🧼 School’s Back - Let’s Talk Clean Hands!

With local schools returning from winter break tomorrow, it’s a great time to give kids a quick reminder about handwashing. After traveling and spending time with friends and family, lots of kids are coming back together - and clean hands really help keep everyone healthier.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends:

• Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
• Washing before eating, after using the bathroom, after coughing or sneezing, and after playing with others
• Using alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when soap and water aren’t available

A quick reminder at home can help prevent the spread of colds, flu, and stomach bugs as kids head back to class. Little habits make a big difference!

This week, we’re taking time to reflect on the many ways our community shows up to support care.

We want to extend a sincere thank you to Covenant Lutheran Church for their continued partnership with the Neighborhood Free Health Clinic.

Earlier this year, Covenant generously donated a large-format printer after upgrading their own. This gift has helped us better prepare and provide printed information and resources for patients as they check out - improving both efficiency and the patient experience.

Covenant’s support goes far beyond this donation. From financial support and sharing our volunteer needs, to welcoming our board meetings into their beautiful conference space, and through the leadership of Pastor Wendy as an active board member, Covenant continues to be a steady and generous community partner.

We are deeply grateful for all they do for our clinic and for our community.

Covering Wisconsin is a resource we give to every patient that walks through our doors, even if you think you won’t qualify for a plan, have already been declined, or think you can’t afford one-it is worth the time to call and speak with an expert who can make sure you know every option available to you. Resources like our clinic have limited capacity and ever-growing demand. Don’t wait until you *need* care to deal with the stress of not having coverage for that care, open enrollment is open!

Healthy people make healthy communities! Plans and prices can change each year — make sure the plan you have is still the best fit for you.
