Free, Open-Ended Grief Support Groups and Programs
Established in 1997, The GriefCare Place has provided a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental place with a progressive program of grief care through support groups, all without cost to the griever. It introduces those grieving the death of a loved one to the normal grieving/healing process in a sensitive and gentle way. At The GriefCare Place, grievers are helped to understand that the grief process is normal, that they are not alone, and, that healing does come.
The foundation for programming, Grief 101: The Basics (formerly Until Healing Comes,) and Grief 102: Achieving Healing (formerly Moving Ahead) is a progressive series about normal grief, tailored for grievers’ understanding and assimilation and application. Other groups are also regularly held, each with a specific focus and to provide grievers an opportunity to learn and share in a smaller, more interactive forum.
While the focus and priority have always been the needs of the grievers who come through the doors into our safe place, the message of hope has not been contained and outreach has expanded far outside the walls of our facility. This reaching out has created a solid network of community and professional involvement to many businesses, churches, schools, extended care facilities, nursing homes, social agencies, and more.
Whether inside or outside our doors, the essence of who we are and what we do steadfastly remains: shared hope from the healing heart of one griever to the hurting heart of another.
