Years ago I wondered if there was a branch of yoga that focused on just the mechanics of the poses themselves - the alignment, the lengthening of muscles - minus the chanting, the Sanskrit, the quest for enlightenment, etc.
So I directed my curiosity to some yoga forums to see if those in the yoga community could give me a solid answer.
Holy crap, did I make a huge mistake! 🤯
“Yoga without enlightenment is NOT yoga!”
“What you’re describing is exercise, not yoga.”
“You absolutely can not dissect yoga, extracting the pieces and parts you like the best and then throwing away the rest. It is a whole and complete entity.”
Yikes! As you can see my inquiry was not well received.
It wasn’t about excluding what many would consider the controversial parts of yoga but rather highlighting or diving deeper into the areas that really caught my attention. Unfortunately, it’s those components and people’s beliefs around them that often turn people away from exploring yoga in the first place and missing out on all it has to offer.
Even though I still believed that parts of yoga could be extracted and spotlighted on their own for the benefit of others, I was deterred enough to stop the search and find other non-yoga ways of bringing flexibility into my life and the lives of others.
Well folks, I’m pleased to announce that the search is OVER! It may not have existed back then, but it exists now, and I’ve found it!
⭐️And better yet, I just signed up to become a certified instructor! ⭐️
It’s called 🧘♀️, and it’s exactly the type of movement training I’ve been wanting to learn and share with others.
It focuses on:
🔹Lengthening tissue (muscles, tendons, and the super-duper important fascia) so there’s less tension on your joints and neighboring structures
🔹Engaging both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems so you can learn how to embrace the uncomfortable moments and trick your body into responding
🔹Using gravity and your own bodyweight which means little to no fancy props
🔹Increasing mobility and spaciousness within your body so that you can do more with less pain
Not only am I excited about sharing this work with you but this course aligns beautifully with my experience as a BodyMind Coach, 15 years as a licensed massage therapist and bodyworker, and as a CrossFit enthusiast.
So let me ask you...
Are you tired feeling stiff all the time? Would you like to kneel or bend forward without the fear of remaining forever stuck in that position?
Although the course doesn't begin until mid-April, I would love having YOU and your body in mind as I receive my training live and to hit the ground running.
