Halloween is a very exciting and fun time of the year. Families get together, children dress up, and many communities and businesses organize Halloween events for their local neighborhood. If you have a kiddo who is sensory sensitive you likely know that Halloween can be overwhelming.
As a result, your child is likely hesitant to enjoy Halloween. In fact, trick-or-treating contributes to sensory overload. Join us from 4-5:30 for a sensory friendly experience( costumes optional). From 5:30-9 join us for music, games, costume contests and prizes! #

Good morning!

As summer comes to an end we are already thinking about the upcoming school year. With a new school year comes new strategies for a successful year.

Family participation is an essential part of a successful IEP process, but persistent barriers can often derail family involvement. Some of these barriers look like:

Lack of awareness or understanding of the IEP process, Language or cultural barriers, Negative experiences or mistrust of the education system,
Limited time or competing priorities, Emotional and or personal challenges. We are here to help!

We anticipate that the 2024-25 school year will be challenging for families already living paycheck to paycheck, leaving little left for items like essential school supplies. Our Back-to-School program aims to level the playing field while relieving the financial burden for parents. With summer just around the corner, children are excited to finish up the school year and have adventures. But at BMHH, we’re already thinking about the new school year!

The yearly expense of a new backpack and school supplies is financial burden for many of the families that we serve. Our annual backpack drive is your chance to give a child the tools that they need to succeed in their education. New backpacks and school supplies allow a child to focus on their education and reach their potential.

Together we will impact the next generation with the resources and supplies students need to succeed!

Week 2 day 3 of BMHH Social Skills Camp. We did a lot of talking about if we want to be a flower friend or a cactus friend. Today we worked on emotional regulation and coping skills. All of the campers worked hard to stay on task and to practice the skills they have learned throughout camp. The progress we are witnessing has been amazing! See everyone tomorrow!

We wanted to give a big thank you to Action Karate for coming out to work with our campers today. Action Karate left us with some really important lessons focused on self control - “We are the boss of our own body. “ Making decisions without anger, making good eye contact, and showing respect. “I am strong!” As you can see we all had a blast!

So hard to just pick which ones to post. Camp has been so incredibly great. The kids learn new skills and are able to practice implementing them throughout the day. The kids have been able to cultivate meaningful relationships with each other and BMHH staff. We are so grateful that you have shared your smart, brave, loving, and hardworking children with all of us. See everyone tomorrow!
