Wow is all that I can say after working on this guy right here!!!! Please take the time to read this so that I can share with you how amazing Equine Flexion Therapy truly is and how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE what I do!
I'd like you to meet Sorrely. This big ole guy is scared of everything, you can't tie him solid, and he isn't really a people horse (he really has to trust you to even make it easy to catch him or work on the ground with him;) but when your doing your job, he is focused. I was told that before my boss got him hed been ranched on, headed a little on but had box issues, and was used as a pick up horse. When boss got him he was under weight and had to put on the pounds to be used. My boss had used him a couple times to drive broncs out and some on the ranch; since I moved here in Sept 2014, he has been my favorite ranch horse and I've always had high hopes for him, but it's been a slow process to get to where I want him to be because of his mentality. I will be honest with you, it's pretty discouraging when you know what a horse can be, you know they want to be that horse you envision them of being, and you both are trying to get where you want to be; BUT there is something that keeps getting in your way that you CANNOT figure out that keeps you from your big picture. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU AFTER YESTERDAYS SESSION ON THIS GUY, I HAVE FOUND THAT ROAD BLOCK AND WE ARE WORKING GETTING RID OF THIS ROAD BLOCK!!!!! I WOULD JUST ABOUT BET MY PERSONAL HORSE AND TELL YOU THAT BY MAY YOU WILL SEE A WHOLE NEW HORSE (I seriously mean a whole new horse, his color and markings and head will be the same. You see, with this road block and what we are able to do with treatment, he will not only stand, move, and perform better on top of being happier and more loving; but he is going to realign as far as his skeletal system is concerned and his muscles are going loosen up and work as they are designed to be. I am beyond excited to watch the results myself!)
So here is where I discovered just how bad things really were and why I sat in awe that this horse was as sane and worked as well as he has been in the shape that he is in! It just proves this horses potential and heart!
During my flexion test, I discovered that his C1-5 were out and super stiff to the left and that his sacrum was out to the right bad; I could tell that they had been that way for a long time and had a lot to do with why this poor guy was out from head to toe and why he was so sore. He had no flexion in his hips and is shoulders were out and felt like a jammed up mess (just those things right there, you can see why he was pretty much out anywhere he could be and why he was sore.) But what floored me was as I was testing each off the 44 spots on both sides of him, he wanted to bite or kick me, YOU COULD TELL HE WAS BEYOND SORE (he might be skittish and not a people horse, but he's far from mean.)
It took me a little bit to relax and loosen his muscles up so I could start flexing and working his joints. When I got to the deep motion flexes, it took some light stretching before we could actually get to the Deep Motion Flexes and the flexes required a good amount of strength. Even though it wasn't the easiest treatment and even though it took a couple hrs and even though I realized that we are basically going to have to do stretches like physical therapy, this session was beyond rewarding to me! Because I know this horse so well, seeing him yawn and shake his head and his eyes roll into the back of his head and totally relax; for me, it was like your kid saying Momma for the first time! But watching his muscles release and his top line and hips fill out, being able to feel the flexion in his hips, and being able to flexion him to his rib cage on both sides, break him at the poll and back him up with ease and his head held correctly up in the air while he hollows is back; to me, was better than seeing your kid take their first steps. But what made my day and truly made me feel even better than a kid on Christmas morning and had me stoked about the next couple of months was being able to see a difference in his shoulders (they didn't look jammed into his withers) and the difference from the point of hip the tail head (it went from almost a mountain peak with a steep drop off to a more round rolling hill.) Like I said before, he's not perfect but were basically going to do horse physical therapy and yoga is a manner that we don't over do it; but I'm truly excited to watch his transformation!
I promise you that with each horse that I do, the more I fall in love with what I am doing and the more I want to learn and become one of the best Equine Flexion Therapists! If you have a horse who needs a little TLC, contact me and let's see how we can help your horse. Remember Equine Flexion Therapy is Stress Point Therapy, Massage Therapy and Deep Motion Flexing that all work together to help release the lactic acid that's caused the knots in your horses muscles that's are like glue to you keeping them tight and hindering them from moving correctly and to help the joints and muscles to regain proper range of motion and alignment!!!
Feel free to message me or to text or call me at 580-310-8250! I do travel and I would love to help your horse feel the best that they can!
