Chances are you've heard about GLP-1s, but what exactly are they and what do they do? GLP-1 is a natural hormone your body already makes - short for Glucagon-Like Peptide-1. It's part of how your body controls blood sugar and appetite. 👩‍⚕️

GLP-1Medications:
✔️Regulate Blood Sugar: Stimulate the pancreas to release insulin when blood sugar levels are high and suppress glucagon, a hormone that raises blood sugar.
✔️Control Appetite: Act on brain receptors to increase feelings of fullness (satiety) and reduce hunger.
✔️ Slow Digestion: Delay "gastric emptying," which keeps food in the stomach longer and prevents post-meal blood sugar spikes.
