The honest truth about home birth is that I wouldn’t do it any other way.
When I was pregnant with Ella, I realized the modern medical system wasn’t for me. I know my body, I want to be in charge of how it is treated, I want to do what I find best for my baby. The OBGYN practice (who I had been with for years) and their hospital midwife practice both claimed that I had options to my healthcare during pregnancy and birth, but when I asked to deviate from their protocols and decline certain things, the tone changed to you have to or we can’t help you. You have options, but only our options- that didn’t work for me.
