We are so grateful for our partnership between our River Rock Adult Day Program and Strongsville Emergency Food Bank!
Strongsville Emergency Food Bank has exciting news and is looking for donations. PLEASE READ to learn What’s New for 2026: Growing Inclusion, Opportunity, and Fresh Food! We are proud to share an exciting and deeply meaningful new initiative that reflects the very heart of our mission — nourishing both people and
community.
In 2026, we are expanding our impact through a collaborative partnership with Gardenview Horticultural Park while strengthening our current
program partnership with Strongsville City Schools, and River Rock at Camp Cheerful. Together, we are creating inclusive, hands-on work and training
opportunities for individuals with special needs, expanding on growing fresh, nutritious vegetables for our food bank clients.
This initiative is designed not only to increase access to healthy food, but also to serve as a structured learning and workforce development and community service program. Participants will engage in every stage of the growing process — from seed starting, planting, and maintenance to harvesting, packaging, and distribution. Through this immersive experience, individuals gain practical horticultural skills, workplace routines, teamwork
experience, and task responsibility that directly align with employment opportunities in the grower, nursery, and horticulture industries.
Beyond technical skills, the program fosters confidence, independence, and pride. Participants experience the fulfillment of meaningful work, social connection, and the knowledge that their efforts directly benefit others in need. Each seed planted represents an opportunity — to build skills, tocontribute with purpose, and to be recognized for ability rather than limitation. The fresh produce grown through this program will be distributed
directly to our food bank clients, ensuring access to wholesome, locally grown food while reinforcing a powerful connection between those who grow it and those who receive it. At the same time, participants are developing a foundation that can support future job placement, vocational pathways, and
long-term employment within the agricultural and nursery workforce.
This initiative embodies what 2026 is all about for us: growth with intention, partnerships with purpose, and service rooted in dignity and respect. We are honored to work alongside organizations and educators who share our commitment to building a healthier, more inclusive community — one where
opportunity is cultivated as thoughtfully as the food we grow. We look forward to watching this program grow — season by season, harvest by harvest — and we are deeply grateful to everyone who makes this vision possible.
As this program continues to take root, we invite our community to watch for upcoming fundraising efforts to help provision a dedicated greenhouse. This greenhouse will allow us to extend the growing season, provide a safe and accessible learning environment, and expand hands-on training opportunities for individuals with special needs throughout the year.
With a greenhouse, participants will gain consistent, structured experience that further supports skill development, workforce readiness, and pathways to employment in the grower and nursery industry—while increasing the amount of fresh, locally grown produce available to our food bank clients. Together, we can cultivate opportunity, inclusion, and nourishment—one plant, one skill, and one future at a time.
