Winging Scapula:

▪️What is it?
It is a condition where the shoulder blade protrudes abnormally, often due to nerve injury or muscle weakness.

▪️What muscles are typically involved? The muscles that are typically weakened to cause a winging scapula are the serratus anterior, trapezius muscle and the rhomboids.

▪️Why is this a problem? A winging scapula can cause reduced range of motion of the entire shoulder joint, muscle imbalances due to compensation of surrounding muscles and pain/discomfort with all shoulder function.

If any of the problems listed above are symptoms that seem familiar to you, it is time to get your scapular tracking assessed by a PT and to get on a treatment plan to get you back on track 💪🏼
