Yesterday, Governor Mike DeWine delivered his State of the State address and spoke about the growing impact of the OhioSEE program across Ohio. The numbers are staggering, and they make one thing crystal clear: more kids need glasses, and they need them sooner.

It’s powerful to see vision care recognized at the state level as something that truly shapes a child’s ability to learn, grow, and show up fully in the classroom. What an honor it is to continue being part of this effort alongside so many dedicated partners working to make sure Ohio’s children can see their futures a little more clearly. 👓✨

We continue our weekly introduction series by highlighting some of our incredible board members!

Kayla Tucker Katsadouros, OD FAAO, completed her undergraduate degree in biomedical science at Auburn University. She earned her optometry degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham followed by additional training in pediatric optometry in Youngstown, Ohio, under the guidance of Dr. Sergul Erzurum, MD. During her time in Ohio, she served as the Medical and Research director at Sight For All United. In 2025, she transitioned back to the south, accepting a position as a pediatric optometrist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She focuses on primary eye care for children, and is an active member in the NEl-funded Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group.

It was another beautiful day out in the community, providing vision screenings with our incredible team of Vision Volunteers. A quick screening can open the door to life-changing care. Today’s community screening event helped connect individuals to the next step in protecting their sight. This is what access looks like, and this is why we do the work.

The fight for children's vision in Ohio is growing.

It started in 2016 when Sight for All United and Vision to Learn brought the first mobile vision clinic to northeast Ohio! Since then, they've served 17 school districts, put glasses on thousands of kids, and built the nation's first in-school specialist referral program for children who need more than a prescription.

They didn't do it alone. United Way showed up. And now community organizations, hospitals, and creators are joining to help take this even further.

There are 758 schools in northeast Ohio where kids are falling behind because they can't see. That number is going to change.
