❗️❗️The impacts of a hurricane can be felt miles away from it's actual projected course! Whether you are a native Floridian or just moved here, it's ALWAYS better to be prepared. Storms are VERY unpredictable. We are available by phone and telehealth daily this week as long as power and internet connections remain intact.
✨Here are some helpful tips:
1. Make sure you have a minimum of 30-day supply of all your prescription medications. If you have a 90-day supply, even better!
2. If you require any medical equipment that depends on electricity (i.e cpap machine, bipap machine, oxygen concentrators, etc) please, please make sure you have a GUARANTEED source of power if you are sheltering in place or make plans to get to a place where your power supply will not be interrupted.
3. If you are on insulin or any other medications that require refrigeration, make sure you have a back-up power soure/ generator for your fridge or have a reliable cooler that can keep your medication cool. **Please note, insulin can become ineffective if it is frozen to make sure to not let it freeze and never put it directly on ice"
4. Have a first aid kit very handy that includes hand-sanitizer, bandaids, topical antibiotic ointment, wet wipes, gauze, scissors, alcohol pads, safety pins, pain killers, sunscreen & any other specific things your family needs.
5. Have a "go-kit" ready if necessary including: 3 days of supplies that you can carry with you. Include backup batteries and chargers for your devices. Include a list of emergency contact phone numbers.
6. If you are in the direct path of the storm or in high flood risk zone with high chances of power outages, let family and friends know where you will be in the event you are unable to contact them.
