Historically, sailors would use the term “anchors aweigh” to describe the moment when an anchor had been completely lifted off of the ocean floor, and all of the anchor’s weight could then be felt in the anchor chain. This served as an indicator that since the weight was now lifted, the ship could continue with its journey. We all need a little help lifting that anchor from time to time. No matter what form your anchor assumes, together we can explore healing options.

My latest project is launched into the world. It’s literally the perfect companion for anyone engaging in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy. Or for therapist who want more information and to follow a guide.

Melissa and I met in our training program two and half years ago. Once we started working with clients using Ketamine we found ourselves having the same conversations and answering the same questions, whether for clients or other therapists. This companion journal is a collection of that wisdom. Part education, part guided experiences, part journal.

This book also features custom art from a fantastic artist She created custom designs and formats for this book.

The Association of Experiential Education 2025 conference in Pittsburgh wrapped up yesterday. I’m always grateful for this community. I got zero professional pictures of myself to share. Post to show appreciation to as they hosted their fourth Maternal Health Conference today, featuring Dr Hayward Brown who talked about Access to Care.

We heard birth stories from two local moms, we learned more about their MOM bus (sorry for the bad picture. I was trying to balance a plate of food). Dr. Brown talked to us about maternal care desserts and named several barriers to care.

I’m mostly impressed and proud of community members who asked questions relating to increasing provider reimbursement rates in order to incentive more providers to work in this area and allow for more access to care. They also asked about how to support families who now have this extra stress and fear over deportation.

We have such awesome maternal health community members here. Who really care and are invested in prenatal and postpartum care.

I got a certificate for being on the Maternal Safety Team for the past year. I love this community.

I ran my first Wild Woman Camping Retreat four years ago. I have since facilitated six different Wild Women Camping Retreats. I’ve taught about the wild woman at professional conferences and in small groups. This is the largest retreat I have hosted thus far. It’s not camping, but the location is so beautifully immersed in nature that it will capture the same charm as camping retreats, except with solid lodging and meals.

Thanks for guiding the way .

We really want to gather a solid group of women and delve as deeply as we can into the wild. We would love to have you join us.

Our Story

Anchors Aweigh Counseling is a private practice owned by Nicky Treadway, LMHC. Nicky specializes in Maternal Mental Heath and Adventure Therapy. 60 minute psychotherapy sessions available for individuals and couples/families struggling with the following challenges: Post Partum Depression/Anxiety/Mood Disruption Birth Trauma Depression Anxiety Adjustment Challenges Relationship Challenges

Session can be done indoors in a traditional setting or outdoors where the connection with nature is strong. Nicky also offers a signature birth preparation program called Inspired Birthing which helps prepare pregnant women for birth. The program includes a minimal of 6 session which focus on psychotherapy, utilizing BioFeedback to prepare for labor, and birth education.

Individuals are also able to schedule a ritual based session to help the move through a powerful moment in the life.
