Julia Elizabeth Olsson Skin Care and Sugaring news. I discuss ingredients and skin tips. I am honest and enjoy helping my clients feel gorgeous and cared for.

I am CA Licensed Esthetician specializing in body and facial Sugaring as well as gentle but highly effective skin care services. I am very concerned about using and selling products with cutting edge yet safe ingredients and I believe that skin health leads to skin beauty. I will never rush through a service and I will never try to sell a product or service to a client that I don't stand behind 100%. I work on a sliding scale so don't let your budget keep you away.

I can't believe it is almost Labor Day and summer is almost over! Where did the time go?! Here in Los Angeles, summer weather will stick around for a while, and we will still get to enjoy the heat for many more weeks. Even though summer can be so much fun, it can also bring some skin challenges. So,...

New blog post, people! Enjoy!

Yes, that's a silly blog post title, but I wanted to get your attention. It's cold. It's February. Spring is far away, and some of the things we do during these winter months can negatively affect our skin. For those of us who have eczema, psoriasis, or just have plain ol' dry skin, we may notice th...

It's simple, really. We all know that you have to wash your face twice a day, every day. It's one of the fastest and easiest ways to have clear and healthy skin. And yet so many of us aren't good about washing our face. We think if we didn't wear make-up that day or if we are too tired at the end of a long day, we can miss it, just this one time.... right. I've been there. But remember that our skin expels waste. And wee also have a very dirty environment and so even if you don't feel "dirty", there is a good chance that you are covered in pollution that is just in the air around us. (https://www.wired.com/story/air-pollution-is-ruining-your-skin/)

That said, I understand that nobody really enjoys washing their face. This seems especially the case for our tweens and teens. When a teen comes to me saying she is breaking out and wants to know what products to use to clear her skin, my first question is, "Are you washing your face?" And they often hem and haw or admit that they aren't consistent enough about it. Washing is important, not only to manage break-outs but to make sure that skin is clean enough to take advantage of any product you are using, moisturizer, serum, etc. If it isn't clean enough, it can't pe*****te properly.

Also, when I have a new client, the honest truth is that I never know what we are really dealing with (acne, irritation, clogged pores, etc.) until the client washes their face regularly for a few weeks. I have seen major changes by just adding this one step. Washing your face is the first and most crucial step in skin care.

Teens are VERY into skincare these days and tons of young influencers are online telling them to try this or that product, some of which are actually too harsh for their skin, can irritate or affect the skin barrier negatively, or often don't do them any good. If you want good skin and good skincare, the best place to start is a good face wash.

I recommend Hale & Hush's Quiet Wash which is gentle and yet highly effective. Quiet Wash will clean without stripping the skin of its necessary barrier. Let's be honest though, cleanser isn't exciting. Kids like gadgets and "cool hacks" as they say. So, I find that often kids are better about washing when they have a tool to use.

Easy peasy! I recommend the Tara Sonic Cleansing Brush. It is a gentle and fabulous way to really get in there and clean out those pores gently. It is waterproof, has 4 settings, looks cool, and feels amazing. My 12 year old loves using it and because she enjoys washing with it, she actually washes her face, for reals. And surprise, surprise! Her break-outs have magically subsided.

You can buy your Tara Sonic and Quiet Wash right here, and I'd love to hear about how it works for you when you do.

Your mom was right. She knew her stuff when she told you to wear gloves when you wash dishes. I get it. Gloves can be annoying and kinda make us look like a 50s housewife, but trust me when I say it's totally worth it. I bring this up because recently some of my clients have been asking me for more....
