Iāve had about a dozen or so people message about the difficult parking issues at the shop, and I agree.
It is now apparent just how difficult.
When all of the residential and business owners are parked in the lot it only leaves 2 to 3 spaces for customers, and 2 to 3 spaces even for one business is extremely difficult, never mind sharing those 2 to 3 spaces between three businesses.
I didnāt realize this would be the case when we signed the lease, I didnāt count lot spaces, and in full transparency even if I had, I donāt think I would have factored in how more than half of those spaces would be taken by residential or other business owners.
I thought, after the fact, that if I parked my own car down at Yankee peddler and walked to the shop, it would provide one more corner space, but that could still be blocked for one reason or another or difficult for a lot of customers to maneuver their vehicle in and out of considering how close it is to the neighboring vintage shop.
Within one month our profits have gone into the negative between our obscured store front and mostly the inaccessible parking.
People cannot get into the shop lot, the path to the shop is routinely blocked by a residential vehicle, and walking from Yankee Peddler, in disagreeable weather, or crossing Route 20 in ANY weather, is difficult for a lot of our customers who may have children or are disabled or elderly.ļæ¼
We are going to try to see this through for as long as we can.
While I love the space itself and donāt even necessarily mind how hidden we are from the main road, I fully agree that the parking situation is beyond miserable, and to hear from so many of you that you didnāt stop by because the lot was full, or didnāt feel comfortable turning into it because thereās no way to safely back out when it is full, breaks my heart, and I donāt blame a single one of you.
I do hope that if you see an opportunity to visit that you will stop by. We have so many hopes for this space and for this business and I feel like I have let my customers down, not realizing how truly difficult it would be for so many of you to even get access to us.
