Today I had the honor of presenting this prestigious award to one of the most genuine, humble, and kind hearted people of Sturgis!

The Honorable Mr. Raymond Burklow

He was one of the first people I met when I started working on my building and has provided encouragement and lots of support along the way!

Raymond is the true definition of a KY Colonel as he finds true joy in helping others. He has spent 60+ plus years of life serving his community without excepting anything in return. If there is an overgrown yard or a pile of brush, he will take care of it without even being asked to. Raymond exemplifies resilience in every aspect of his life. At an early age Raymond was hospitalized and was told that he may not be able to walk or ambulate without assistance. He beat the odds and to this day, he push mows multiple lawns instead of using a riding mower as he feels that he was gifted with the ability to walk. He is often seen working around town from sun up to sun down. When you do try to pay him, he very reluctantly accepts the payment and is always wondering how he can take that to help others. Due to his service work to his community, his humbleness, kind demeanor, and resilence, Mr. Raymond Burklow is now a Kentucky Colonel!

I’m so thankful to be a part of this community. There’s truly something special about the way our town comes together when tragedy strikes. What a blessing it is to have the amazing first responders with the Sturgis Fire Department—Marcus and Peggy—along with caring bystanders. Thankfully, the outcome is stable. 🙏🫶

With all the changes going on. We are glad to get a hand from our local Physician Assistant here in town. When we had a trauma accident happen. An we are thankful for the bystanders. That helped and even took this photo
