Yesterday we lost one of our own. David Mike, a man who left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing him. David was a 2018 Star of Life Winner, an award that honored his unwavering devotion to EMS and his community.
David's colleagues nominated him for this prestigious award, recognizing his tireless efforts and selfless dedication. His humanitarian values went far beyond what was expected professionally, and he touched countless lives with his compassion and generosity.
David's career in EMS spanned over five decades, and he worked for Midwest Medical for over 20 years. During this time, he donned many different hats, including that of an EMT, CPR instructor, ambulance operations manager, dispatcher, and supervisor in the communications center. He was a true leader, always willing to lend a helping hand and lead by example.
But David's desire to help others did not stop with EMS. He and his wife Ginny opened their hearts and their home to several foster children, some with significant special needs. David's kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and he left an enduring impact on all those he welcomed into his life.
Today and forever, we will honor David for his remarkable legacy and the incredible difference he made in all our lives. He will always be remembered for his unwavering dedication to helping others and his selfless heart. David Mike was truly a shining star, and his light will continue to shine on in the hearts of all those he touched. Rest in peace, David, and thank you for everything you did to make this world a better place.
