Full of Hope Farm

Full of Hope Farm Roadside farm stand with fresh flower bouquets, chicken and duck eggs, and seasonal random other things I grow.

In response to SNAP benefits ending in fall 2025 the farmstand turned into a Little Free Food Pantry as well.

Calling all DUCK EGG LOVERS! Duck eggs are great to eat as you would a chicken egg- but they are richer in flavor and don't love to be overcooked (I think they get a little rubbery in texture if overcooked.) They are fantastic for baking projects- they make baked goods so delicious and so fluffy!

Since Call ducks are a miniature duck, their eggs are pretty small. I would guess that they are 85-90% the size of a chicken egg. I cant find any info just yet on what the call duck egg to chicken egg substitution might be in baking but I'll keep looking.

We have 3 dozen Call Duck eggs available and one 1/2 dozen regular sized duck eggs available. No chicken eggs available yet. Private message me to arrange for a pick up time. (The weather is still too cold for me to use the egg cooler regularly in the farm stand just yet. Soon though!)

Call Duck eggs- $5.00 per dozen
Regular duck eggs- $4.00 per HALF dozen

πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’› The Little Free Food Pantry is fully restocked. Come on by!

I have a big cooler (inside my house) full of canned foods and glass jars and other items that can freeze and burst in the cold. If you want access to it just DM me and we can coordinate a time for me to put it outside for a few hours. πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’›

If you are able to make a local donation we greatly appreciate your support! Drop off any non-freezable dry goods right in the food pantry. Load them into the plastic bins so the squirrels don't find them. Thank you!

Hope you are all staying warm! We are heading into a stretch of much more tolerable winter weather here in Sudbury finally! Temps in the 20's and 30's never looked so good! 🌞

Some pictures from -6 degrees yesterday. Everyone is doing okay. The goats have been snuggling with each other over night and the chickens and ducks are confined to their small wind-proof run for the time being. There is a heat lamp in there for a warming station and fresh hot oatmeal in the morning. Even my Couch Pyrenees, Bo, can't tolerate the cold on his beans. He was about to do his business last night about 50 feet away from the house and he couldn't take the cold anymore and layed down and curled up his paws. Poor guy. Bracing for the storm to hit this afternoon. Staying as cozy as we can. Be well friends. Take care of each other. πŸ’›πŸ©΅πŸ’›

Go find your community. πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’›

Fennel bravely set off across the yard to find her special friends who were hunting bugs at the edge of the forest. She sat with me, and then when she was ready to hop off, I watched her gaze around, looking for her group. She was nervous - her gal pals were far, and that required her to run all by herself across a wide exposed section of yard. But she knew her "people," so she took off in a straight line.

I'm so thankful for the group developing here, the empathetic, caring people. The more we connect, the better we can care for each other. Reach out. Find local groups also, don't remain isolated. I'm in Raleigh, NC. Reach out. If Fennel can run across the dangerous yard all by herself to reach her buddies, you can too.

Find people and go to them. Have a cup of tea. Plan a garden. Don't have space? I do, but I don't have enough energy to make a big garden. Maybe you do! Go find someone who does, or offer to host a community garden in your area. Exchange recipes (gluten and dairy free here, a bonus if you need special recipes!). Make and mail cards, because who doesn't adore getting something other than bills in the mailbox? Plan a monthly potluck, or plan a recurring game night. Form a craft group, or a walking group, and talk honestly. Find a shut in who needs help. Form a book club. Gather the neighbors monthly to stock a local food bank. Start a tiny library for community news and sharing (my next project). Form a group, make signs, and go for a patriotic stroll downtown. Don't do it all and exhaust yourself, but pick something.

Stand up, collect your exhausted self, hitch up your pants, and run like crazy.

The possibilities for how you cross that yard are endless. And what waits by the forest's edge? There is safety in numbers, rest in community (yes, even for introverts.) There is a rejuvenating peace that enters your heart when you have a moment surrounded by like-minded people who value human life.

Reach out.
Run like you are the last hen in the yard, and the fox is out hunting.
Run like your life depends on it.
Run. Walk. Crawl.
But go, my friend. Find us.
Feed your heart. Renew your soul.
Find your community.

We hope all our friends and neighbors (near and far) have enjoyed the holidays.

For those of you who live near- the goats want you to know they have been VERY good this year and would really like to eat your christmas tree when you are done with it. (As long as it is free of tinsel.) 🌲🌲🌲 Message me if you want to feed it to the goats yourself, otherwise you can just leave your tree in the driveway near the red garage and I will bring it to the goaties. (Address is 370 Lake Hortonia Road Sudbury VT). Thank you!

πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’› The Little Free Food Pantry is in need of restocking.πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’› Only DRY goods until the temperature is above freezing. No cans or jars right now. Please consider things like: pasta, lentils, dry beans, instant potatoes, mac and cheese boxes, flavored rice packets, brown rice, ramen noodles packs, granola bars, cereals, flour, sugar, bisquick... and anyone who would like to access the canned goods I have indoors can message me privately and I will gladly coordinate a time to put the cooler outside for a few hours so they can stop by and access those items too.

For those of you who live farther away- your local food pantry will be glad to have your donations as well. Spread kindness where you are! πŸ₯° Stay warm!

πŸ©΅πŸ’›πŸ©΅ Little Free Food Pantry is still available 24/7 πŸ©΅πŸ’›πŸ©΅

Items that can freeze and burst have been taken indoors. My little hot water bottle cannot keep up with these temps.

(Message me privately if you would like to arrange to have me put the cooler of things that can freeze back outdoors for a few hours so you can pick up items. Happy to do so! It has cans of veggies, fruit packs, cans of baked beans, canned tuna, chef boyardee spaghetti and meatballs, hearty canned soup etc.)

Plenty of dry goods are still available. Peanut butter, coffee, cereal, white rice, lentils, dry beans, waffle mix and maple syrup, rice-a-roni boxes, ramen noodles, honey, pasta, boxed kraft mac and cheese.

Be Well! 🫢

Open 24/7

At some point soon I will have to bring in food that will not handle being frozen (cans and glass jars etc...) But there should be enough of a variety that there will be something available even when the temp drops.

πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’›Thank you to Sue Scott and Nancy Allison for their generous donations! πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’›
