Big news at Good Samaritan Hospital!

Our team successfully implanted our first EV-ICD (extravascular implantable cardioverter-defibrillator)—an advanced device designed to treat life-threatening heart rhythm conditions. ❤️

What makes it different? This device is placed outside the heart and blood vessels, helping reduce infection risk while still delivering life-saving therapy. It can also pace the heart out of dangerous rhythms and is designed to last longer than traditional devices.

We’re proud to continue bringing the latest innovations in heart care closer to home for our community.

The future of healthcare starts in our classrooms.

Richard Evans, MD, FACS, of WMCHealth’s Western Region and Assistant Professor at New York Medical College, is rethinking how we build the next generation of healthcare professionals. Featured on the Becker’s Healthcare Podcast, Dr. Evans shares how his “Mini Medical College” program is introducing high school students to real-world healthcare experiences—early enough to inspire lasting career paths.

What started in one school has expanded—through partnership with WMCHealth—to 10 high schools across New York and New Jersey, with a vision to grow nationally.

This is how we strengthen our workforce. This is how we invest in our communities.
