CHKD’s Sunflower Award recognizes non-nursing team members who demonstrate outstanding service and compassion. Today, we’re thrilled to recognize our most recent recipient, Kara Riddick! 🌻

Kara, a dedicated speech therapist at CHKD, was nominated by a grateful family whose two children have made remarkable progress under her care. Once nonverbal, both children are now “finding their voices, expressing themselves, and building the foundation for meaningful communication.” They are reaching milestones their family once wondered if they would ever see, filling them with joy and hope.

To this family, Kara is “more than a therapist.” She’s a trusted partner in their journey and an advocate for their children’s success.

had an incredible time inspiring the next generation at the Chesapeake Worlds of Work event! 🌟

More than 3,000 eighth grade students explored hands-on activities and learned what a “day in the life” looks like across many rewarding career paths at CHKD. Our Medical Transport, Pharmacy, Stop the Bleed (Trauma Education), Radiology, and Respiratory Therapy teams proudly represented CHKD, sharing their expertise and passion for pediatric care.
