I usually make waffles using Walmart’s Gluten Free Pancake and Waffle mix, however, I did not have enough and went I did my weekly shopping run they were out of it. So I bought Bisquick’s gluten free mix. It was runnier when I mixed everything together as the recipe called for and I had to add some gluten free flour to thicken up. The waffles were perfectly fine and eaten without complaints, but I still love Walmart’s cheaper version.

Up in Michigan for my nephew’s confirmation. I am near Bay City about 2 hours north of Detroit. After a morning of painting with my niece at a nearby pottery shop, we headed to Prost Wine Bar & Charcuterie for something to eat. They easily made anything we asked for gluten free and were ever accommodating. They reported standard practice is to create gluten free foods away from main food items. Gloves were changed.

We ended up with French fries, Bruschetta, and a Charcuterie board! It was all delicious and worth the stop if near Bay City or Frankenmuth, MI.

Went to Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant last weekend and have fighting all week from cross contamination and gluten exposure. The server knew I was Celiac and I asked for all the standard precautions.

My order was originally messed up and I was supposed to have salad instead of asparagus. I am thinking that that is where the error came because I asked for a fresh salad without croutons. I don’t know if someone took a salad from the back or not. Either which way, my stomach had sharp, cramping pain that felt like wave-like spasms, similar to severe gas pain or intestinal cramping started before I left. I spent the weekend in and out of the bathroom.

They brought me gluten free bread to start with my own butter. I ordered from a special gluten free menu. I choose the salmon with wasabi mashed potatoes. Both of those were very yummy. I had caramel crème brulee for dessert, this was the only gluten free option. With the amount of money we spent, I am not running back here.

Always check your order before you leave. Chick-fil-A Hilltop last night got my order wrong. 😑

I ordered grilled gluten free nuggets. Even had the girl label it an allergy order. Asked her to write change gloves. She put it in as a regular nugget order and NO ONE questioned it. The manager was apologetic and got me a whole new meal. Be safe out there.

So ….

I went to coffee yesterday with a friend and I didn’t take any pictures of my food. 🤦🏻‍♀️

🚨 This is a photo from their website, but mine was bigger, on parchment paper, and so good! 🚨

So, Knotts Coffee Company in Bridgewater area of North Suffolk is amazing! They do all the things just to eliminate cross contamination and easy my nerves.

I had a Lavender Latte, hot, my favorite and their gluten free chicken pesto flat bread!

It is cooked on parchment and they take precautions to eliminate cross contamination. My friend Madi said it was better than her order.

No breakfast baked goods but I was so ok with this and ate it throughout the day as my lunch and dinner too. I know I posted about them before but worth checking out!

Dinner at Baker's Crust Artisan Kitchen in Greenbrier! They have a whole gluten free menu but beware the pizzas are cooked in the oven on the same surface as gluten pizzas. Their special chips are are cooked it its own fryer and celiac safe. I went with a gluten free smash burger. The roll was a standard gluten free roll but with the special gluten free sauce and cheese you didn’t even notice. Hit the spot to start the weekend! Where should we go next?

Sushi lunch at Iron Chef again with the kids. When they were little we got them to eat Edamame by telling them they were smart beans that would make them smart. What little lies did you tell your kids to try to get them to eat?

Last weekend I attended the Sojourn Fermentory’s author night. I was supposed to attend with some girlfriends but plans fell through and got the family to come too. The book event was really fun to and I was able to meet a variety of local authors. They had cocktails that were gluten free and adequately washed everything before making my drink at my request.

I ordered the Caprese Salad with gluten free pita. My son later joined us and he grabbed from food from the barbecue place across the street.
