Hi Friends and Neighbors,

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month.
Did you know that:
* Diabetes is the LEADING cause of blindness in adults age 20 to 74?
* Every 19 seconds, one American is diagnosed with diabetes?
* Of the 34.2 million Americans with diabetes, 7.3 million are UNDIAGNOSED?
*For many people, the first sign of diabetes may be detected on their yearly comprehensive eye exam?

Make sure that your yearly eye exam is a part of your overall health awareness examinations to help detect ocular disease and many other systemic diseases. It is important that if diagnosed with diabetes, that you are always aware of your HbA1c number and fasting blood sugar readings to take control of your health. Treat yourself well and take good care of all aspects of your health. After all, it is a healthy self that allows us to enjoy this beautiful life to it's fullest!

To your health,
Lane Eye Care

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

After being closed for two weeks, Lane Eye Care will reopen on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 9:00am.

We will be strictly limiting the number of people in the office at all times in order to maintain as much social distancing as possible. We will be dispensing glasses and contact lenses by appointment only for now.

We ask that only an essential caretaker accompany a patient when necessary into the office and anyone who is non-essential does not enter the office.

Anyone and everyone who arrives at the office will have a non-contact temperature scan prior to entry and will need to be rescheduled if found to have a fever.

We have added the ability for our patients with valid prescriptions to order their contact lenses through our website(www.LaneEyeCareVA.com). You may also call us to order your contact lenses over the phone at 757-935-1500.
Please look under "Promotions" on our website to find some of the contact lens rebate programs. You may also call us to find out more about rebates and we can mail them to you.

Until the end of May 2020, any order of 2 boxes or more of contact lenses(including daily disposables) will receive FREE SHIPPING to your place of residence. This includes orders placed through our website and over the phone.

For picking up glasses or contact lenses, please do not enter the office. You must call ahead of time and schedule an appointment for pick-up from the office so that we can control patient flow for everyone's protection. We will attempt to offer curb-side pick-up whenever possible for glasses and contact lenses.

Our team members will be wearing face masks whenever working directly with or in close proximity to patients.

This is a difficult time for us all. Though we have had to change things quite a bit and put certain measures in place for everyone's protection, we are proud to be here for our friends and neighbors, and to continue to provide eye care for our community. This is a very fluid situation, so if anything changes, we will continue to keep you updated. Thank you for your patronage and please be well. We are here for you.

To Your Health,
Dr.Lane and the Lane Eye Care Team

Don't let a contact lens related eye infection be the scariest part of your Halloween! Take good care of your eyes by adhering to the proper contact lens replacement schedule, never using expired contact lenses and contact lens solutions, replace your contact lens case every 3 months, and adhere to the proper wear schedule during the day. Remember, if you sleep in your contact lenses, you are at a significantly higher risk of developing corneal ulcers, keratitis, corneal neovascularization, scarring, and potentially permanent reduced vision/loss of vision. Contact lenses are medical devices and should always be treated with a healthy respect. If you abuse your contact lenses, there is a good chance they will abuse your eyes in return. Take this month to focus on better habits to keep your eyes healthy! Happy October!

To your health,
Lane Eye Care
