Many people tell me, “Your job must be so fun,” and most days it truly is. I get to witness some people’s most exciting days every single week. But there’s also a quieter side of this work that isn’t often seen.

Ultrasound can sometimes bring difficult and unexpected news. I carry those families with me long after they leave my office. Telling parents that their baby no longer has a heartbeat or making the difficult phone call to the OB office is something that stays with you.

Just know that every scan, whether filled with celebration or heartbreak, is approached with respect and compassion. It’s an honor to be trusted during such vulnerable moments, and I hold that responsibility close to my heart.
