The Turmeric root is comprised of micro & macro nutrients that consist of water, fats, carbohydrates, minerals etc. but what most people are after when they purchase Turmeric root powder is a small percentage of constituents called Curcuminoids & Tumerones which exist in a very small amount in the powdered form.

Curcuminoids are what most people are seeking because of their known benefits, however to obtain a therapeutic dose of Curcuminoids they need help entering our cells because they are water soluble and aren’t well absorbed by the body. Even if you do pair with say, Black Pepper it’s not usually enough because the amount of Turmeric powder that you would need to consume would probably cause some GI upset if you were going to elicit the benefits you’re seeking from Curcumin.

The challenge is, there’s poor absorption, low biologic activity, rapid metabolism & elimination. You have to add in other nutritive factors to get the most out of it.
