We respectfully invite all monks, nuns, and lay practitioners to listen with a calm mind,
without judgment or commentary, and simply allow the Dharma to sink into your heart.
โธป
Overconfidence is a sign of a deluded self.
That self is not โyou,โ
but a dream that controls you.
โธป
Please, everyone, quiet your mind.
The words you are about to hear
are not meant to be understood,
but to awaken you.
If you are still trying to understand,
please pauseโ
for the truth does not lie in thought.
โธป
Human beings, from moment to moment, live by mental states:
overconfidence, enthusiasm, exhilaration, irritation, resistance, confusion, escapeโฆ
They believe those states are who they are,
but in truth, they are being lived by the states.
Unable to awaken from the dream,
they cling to the self as real:
the dominant self, the arrogant self, the clever self, the self that โhelps others,โ the self that kills.
They do not have a self โ they are the self itself.
Attachment runs so deep
that there is no one left who is clinging;
only the ego remains, living, speaking, acting.
Like someone dreaming: within the dream, there is no โdreamer,โ only the dream unfolding.
Because they are that ego, they keep revolving through the three realms and six paths.
Without awakening from the dream of self-clinging, one cannot know who one truly is.
And without knowing who one truly is,
how can one walk the path of Buddhahood and liberation?
