A note from the photographer: “Growing up, my grandparents regularly told me that you could tell a lot about a person by how they used their hands. Theirs were strong, gentle, calloused and lined, and beautiful – the things I loved most about them, conveyed without a word. I still love photographing people’s hands at work. Here at HBRF, what strikes me most is the consistent impression of compassion, even in something as simple as fastening an identification band. The team seems to never lose sight of how many hopes each patient brings with them to clinical research. Daily they honor participants, with every interaction. It is a privilege to be here, and capture some of it to share with anyone watching, bearing their own hopes.” 💗
