The American Cancer Society’s Cancer Statistics, 2025 report shows a 34% decline in U.S. cancer mortality from 1991 to 2022, averting 4.5 million deaths due to reduced smoking, early detection, and better treatments. However, rising cancer incidence among younger and middle-aged women, along with persistent racial disparities, pose challenges. Native Americans face the highest cancer mortality, and Black individuals have significantly higher rates for prostate, stomach, breast, and uterine cancers. Women under 50 also see an 82% higher incidence than men. Addressing systemic inequalities in cancer care is crucial to closing these gaps and improving outcomes for all populations.

When managing a cancer diagnosis, choosing the right health coverage is crucial. Medicare Advantage (MA) plans can offer benefits like lower premiums, additional services (e.g., dental, vision), and a cap on annual out-of-pocket expenses. However, these plans also come with challenges, such as restr...

First, both scans generally require patients to lie on a movable table that passes through a big, donut-shaped machine. A CT scan is like a series of....

From our kooky, spooky and ooky family at Advance Oncology, we wish you all a happy Halloween!

We hope you all have a spook-tacular evening! 👻🎃

Please be sure to follow proper COVID-19 measures tonight by:

🎃 Maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet at all times.

🎃 Wearing proper masks. Please note, costume masks are NOT a substitute for cloth masks and do not wear a cloth mask under a costume mask as it might make it harder to breathe. Make sure the mask covers the nose and mouth and does not have an opening near the mouth. Instead of costume masks, try incorporating a Halloween-themed cloth mask in your costume.

🎃 Sanitizing and washing hands regularly. If using sanitizer, be sure to use a sanitizer that contains 60% alcohol.

We hope these tips will help you and your loved ones enjoy a safe Halloween this year.

As October comes to an end, that also means it’s the end of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

We hope you found our posts this month helpful and informative.

Please remember to think pink even after October ends by talking to your doctor about your risk factors and getting annual screenings and performing monthly self-breast exams.

Education about the disease and preventive care must remain a focus, not just in October, but all year long.

There is a common misconception that if there is no family history of breast cancer, then you are less likely to be diagnosed.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, while women who have a family history of breast cancer are in a higher risk group, most women who have breast cancer have no family history. Statistically only about 10% of individuals diagnosed with breast cancer have a family history of this disease.

That is why it is important for ALL women to get their regular screenings and clinical breast exams done as well as perform monthly breast exams.
