How can massage help my horse?

This question gets asked quite often. The simple answer is it increases muscle and skin tone, increases lymphatic drainage, and is a great way to provide your horse with a warm up or cool down after a training session.

No, all appointments don't have to be an hour in length. Often it is best to help warm up the muscles before competition or training and then provide a cool down massage within the first hour after the competition or training session.

It's time to begin!

Spring is in the air; or at least I hope it is.

Our sights are set on the upcoming show season and get "back in the saddle." After taking last year off for the most part we are ready to get back to serving you and your horses.

We are taking bookings for the month of May at this time. Our hours of operation will also be updated soon as our schedules have changed.

In the meantime, to reserve your appointment date and time message this business page or Carrie Fischer directly.

The first 25 people to book with us in the month of May will receive a $10 discount on the massage.

Why massage horses 🐎 or bovine πŸ„?
Massage therapy is well known to reduce and relieve muscle tension in humans, and it can do the same for our four-legged friends.
With muscle tension relief comes pain relief. Massage πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ is also known to loosen scar tissue gradually, helping the body move more freely and reducing the associated pain.
Massage can:
🌻 increase flexibility
🌻 improve suppleness
🌻 relieve tension
🌻 tackle psychological issues
🌻 aid in muscle recovery
🌻 harmonizing horse and rider
🌻 increased muscle conditioning
🌻 detoxification
It also helps animals be balanced and centered prior to a show. With show season right around the corner it is THE best time to get started.
Booking is easy...just shoot me a message or leave a comment and we will have a short chat.

We are making a few changes to our pricing structure.

Since we are seeing more clients and each clients needs very we find it rather unfitting to have a set price point. We will give a price once we understand what is needed to best serve the client.

Our 1 hour massages may go into a full 90 minutes to accommodate the animal and it's needs.

If there are any questions about the changes in our pricing structure please ask and we would be happy to answer those for you.

We look forward to serving you and your animal in the near future.

We are extremely sensitive to the hardships our people and our world are experiencing right now. Please know that we are here to offer help, support, & uplifting guidance to lead through these difficult times.

With that being stated we want to offer a special to everyone. We were unable to properly celebrate our 1 year business anniversary the way we wanted and Doug wanted to offer a discount for his birthday. Since we couldn't do that at the time we want to provide the following offer to you at this time.

For the months of July and August you can purchase 1 hour massages for just $50 (originally $70). We will send you a gift certificate upon purchase and it will be valid until October 31,2020.

We accept cash, check, or payment via PayPal at this time. PayPal account is dcn.youngliving@gmail.com

We look forward to serving you and your four legged friends in the coming months.

As things begin to reopen we are available for service.

We will be following that advice of several local veterinarians based on how they are reopening.

What you will notice is our time between appointments will be longer to allow for us to clean any equipment we use or cleaning our hands.

We can service more than one animal on a particular property, however, we ask that only one owner/handler be present during the appointment.

If you have further questions about how we are going to resume business please do contact us.

I, Carrie, have been reading and educating myself on nutrition for horses for an upcoming gathering in April. This isn't an area that I have a whole lot of knowledge in, but I have been doing a lot of research and speaking with qualified individuals in the horse industry.

I, by no means, consider myself an expert on the topic, but felt that this article from Holistic Horse website was spot on in regards to pasture care.

My take aways are:

βœ” Rotating your pastures is important
βœ” Horses do a lot of natural damage to the pasture by their mouths and their hooves
βœ” Having a depleted pasture is not good
βœ” Overgrazing is not good for the pasture

After you read the article located πŸ‘‡ let me know your take aways in the comments below.

How many people would be interested in massages for their dogs?

🐢 There is an upcoming training in March for K-9 massage therapy and Simply Pure Equine Bodyworks would like to know if there is an interest in this community for this service.

πŸ‘‰ Doug will be attending a two day training, also in March, where he will be learning about KT Taping, TENS treatment, etc. Look for more information towards the end of March regarding availability for these different modalities.

πŸ‘‰ March is the businesses anniversary. Wonder what types of special we can come up with πŸ˜‰

πŸ‘‰ We really appreciate your business!

βœ” How do you keep your horses water fresh and clean?
βœ” How do you keep ice or algae from forming in the water tank?

Check out this post πŸ‘‡ regarding keeping water fresh during the winter months or all year round. πŸ’¦

Even though it's winter in Iowa, I still find it hard to keep the algae from growing in the horses' water tank. Here's a real simple recipe to use in your livestock tanks to help keep it cleaner (this is for a 70-gallon tank):

1/2 cup 2% hydrogen peroxide
20 drops Lemon Vitality essential oil (Young Living)
15 drops Citrus Fresh (Young Living essential oils)

Mix together. Pour into tank that has had the water freshened, and swirl with a wooden spoon to disperse the oils. I find also that our horses drink more with the treated water. And the tank stays cleaner for much longer. πŸ˜‰

What a great recipe to be applied to your horses hooves to keep them healthy and comfortable in the adjusting temperatures. 🐴

Find that you don't have these oils on hand or need to order them please contact us and we can help you out.

Wintertime, mud, freeze / thawing cycles can wreak havoc on horse's hooves. Here's a simple little recipe you can put together and apply to the clefts of the frogs and the crevices between the heel bulbs to keep your horse's feet healthy and comfortable:

1/2 ounce olive oil
20 drops manuka essential oil
10 drops lemongrass essential oil
10 drops Purification blend
20 drops melaleuca (tea tree oil)

I store my mix in a glass dropper bottle. It's super easy and not messy at all to apply the oils with a dropper.
