As Colore**al Cancer Awareness Month comes to an end, it’s important to remember that awareness shouldn’t end here.

For individuals experiencing symptoms such as persistent abdominal pain, changes in bowel habits, re**al bleeding, or unexplained weight loss, a colonoscopy can be a critical step toward answers and relief. This procedure allows providers to directly examine the colon, identify inflammation or abnormalities, and detect precancerous polyps before they develop into something more serious.

Early detection doesn’t just improve outcomes—it can be lifesaving.

If you’ve been putting off care or ignoring symptoms, now is the time to take action. Your health is worth it.

Colore**al Cancer Is Rising in Adults Under 45

Colore**al cancer has traditionally been considered a disease that affects older adults, but in recent years, doctors have seen a concerning increase in cases among people under the age of 45.

Many younger adults may ignore symptoms or assume they are related to less serious conditions. However, persistent symptoms should never be overlooked, including:
• Re**al bleeding
• Changes in bowel habits
• Unexplained weight loss
• Ongoing abdominal pain or fatigue

Early detection can make a life-saving difference. If you are experiencing symptoms, have a family history of colore**al cancer, or are approaching screening age, speak with your healthcare provider about your risk and screening options.

Raising awareness could save a life — possibly even your own. 💙🎗️

March is Colore**al Cancer Awareness Month đź’™

Colore**al cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States — but it is also one of the most preventable and treatable when detected early.

✔️ Screening saves lives.
✔️ Most colore**al cancers begin as precancerous polyps.
✔️ Removing polyps during a colonoscopy can prevent cancer before it starts.

Who should be screened?
The American Cancer Society recommends starting regular screening at age 45 for average-risk individuals. If you have a family history of colore**al cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, or other risk factors, you may need to start earlier.

Don’t ignore symptoms such as:

Re**al bleeding

Persistent abdominal pain

Changes in bowel habits

Unexplained weight loss

Ongoing fatigue

Many people have no symptoms in early stages — which is why screening is so important.

This month, we encourage you to prioritize your health. A screening colonoscopy isn’t just a test — it’s prevention.

If you’re 45 or older (or due for your next screening), contact our office to schedule your appointment. Early detection truly saves lives.

đź’™ We are saddened to hear of the passing of James Van Der Beek at just 48 years old from colore**al cancer.

His death is a heartbreaking reminder that colon cancer is affecting younger adults more than ever — and it is now the leading cause of cancer-related death in people under 50.

The most important thing to know is this:

âś… Colon cancer is often preventable.
âś… A colonoscopy can save your life.

If you have symptoms like:
⚠️ re**al bleeding
⚠️ changes in bowel habits
⚠️ unexplained anemia or fatigue
⚠️ abdominal pain
⚠️ unexplained weight loss

…please don’t ignore them.

📍 At Texas Modern Gastroenterology, we’re here to help with early detection and prevention.

Get checked. It could save your life.
