Tena is a sought after, passionate and unforgettable inspirational speaker, patient advocate, psoriasis consultant, author and teacher. For more than 20 years she has motivated professionals and individuals alike with her insightful approach to patient care. Tena’s personal health experience places her in a unique position to elevate patient care. She has suffered from a lifelong chronic illness that has propelled and motivated her to develop extraordinary empathy with the personal struggles and self-esteem issues of patients, especially that of young girls. In her work with patient empowerment, she has created and conducted training for thousands of dermatologists, dermatology nurses and medical students, speaking at institutions such as the Mayo Clinic, Geisinger Clinic and other medical schools around the country. Tena is the only non-medical professional to regularly deliver workshops at the American Academy of Dermatology National Conferences. This workshop, “How to Have an Unforgettably Positive Office Visit”, has been one of the most highly rated and attended offerings at the Conference for the past 10 years. The American Academy of Dermatology lists this workshop in their leadership series. Dr. Steve Shama, dermatologist in Boston, and Tena Brown bring both the patient and physician’s perspective to this dynamic and interactive workshop. An exciting, irrepressible and unstoppable speaker, teacher and leader, Tena is thrilled to direct her skills and energy to dermatology nurses, inspiring and motivating them to provide compassionate care for patients.
