This photo was taken at the front door of my downtown clinic, the one lost in the April 2024 tornado. Standing there that day, I didn’t know how much change was still ahead.

After 20 years of massage therapy, I will be retiring from bodywork and closing Sulphur Massage Therapy Clinic at the end of March.

Two decades of healing hands.
Of quiet conversations.
Of shared seasons of life.

As I approach my third 21st birthday later this year (63 yrs old and yes, still curious and inspired), I feel something stirring that doesn’t feel like an ending at all.

It feels like evolution.

Music has always lived alongside my work. Now it steps forward. I’ll be focusing on live music for private gatherings and am developing a YouTube channel, “Embodied Spirit” where I will be exploring a life of integrating the body and spirit.

Appointments remain available through March if you’d like to come in before this chapter closes. And for a small circle of local souls, I’ll quietly continue offering limited outcall sessions.

The tornado taught me something about impermanence.
But it also reminded me of resilience.

Here’s to honoring what was — and stepping bravely into what’s next.

Still listening. Still learning. Still becoming…

Since this is Sunday, I thought it would be nice to see how prayer can actually reduce physical symptoms of stress.

Prayer reduces physical stress symptoms primarily by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which triggers the relaxation response, the physiological opposite of the "fight-or-flight" stress response. This leads to measurable changes such as:

* Lowered heart rate and blood pressure
* Slower breathing and reduced oxygen consumption
* Decreased cortisol levels (the primary stress hormone)
* Reduced muscle tension

Studies show that focused prayer, especially when combined with rhythmic breathing, can calm the amygdala (the brain’s fear center) and increase activity in the prefrontal cortex, enhancing emotional regulation. This shift promotes the release of serotonin and endorphins, neurotransmitters linked to mood stabilization and feelings of well-being.
Additionally, prayer’s meditative qualities help reduce rumination and mental overload, further supporting physiological calm.
Over time, regular prayer is associated with improved immune function, better sleep, and lower risks of stress-related conditions like hypertension and anxiety disorders.

My offering today toward a STRESS-FREE life:

If you haven’t put away your Christmas decorations yet, cut yourself some slack!

Relax, enjoy the lights, give late gifts, and most of all, contemplate the deeper meaning of the Nativity of Christ as a Babe in the Manger and of His Glorious Return.
Enjoy the deeper mysteries of Christmas without the pressure of parties and getting everything done by Dec 25.

by Christine Rousselle Washington, D.C. Newsroom, Jan 5, 2022 / 17:00 pm How many days is Christmas? When should you finally take those lights off the porch, or remove the tree? Read on for some of the arguments for and against commonly agreed-upon end dates for Christmas. Christmas is one day This,...
