Camp Smiling F.A.C.E.S is back — a summer experience for children with challenges — with a fun new format for the summer! ☀️

This year, we are transitioning from the traditional one-week camp format to a “Fun Fridays” series hosted throughout the summer at the Genesis Therapeutic Riding Center. 🤎

The goal is to continue providing engaging, therapeutic and family-friendly experiences for our participants while creating a more flexible and sustainable programming model.

Join us from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. for four themed Fridays this summer:

🐾 June 5 – Paws & Ponies Playdate
🦄 June 26 – Unicorns & Dragons
❤️ July 10 – Yankee Doodle Dandy
🎨 July 31 – Painting, Ponies & Popsicles

Meet Conrad! 🤎

We're excited to officially welcome Conrad to the GTRC family! 🎉 This handsome guy hasn't always been known as Conrad — he used to go by "Red." No matter the name, his personality shines just the same.

Conrad is a Tennessee Walking Horse, but a bit smaller than average at 14 hands tall. What he may lack in size, he makes up for in comfort — his unique gait provides an incredibly smooth and comfortable ride for our riders.

Around the barn, Conrad is the herd boss and takes his job seriously... unless he's with his best friend, Tonka. The two are truly inseparable — like peas and carrots!

And don't expect him to be impressed by treats — fruits and veggies are a no-go. Somehow, his nickname still became "Cornbread"! 🐴

From building independence in age-appropriate activities of daily living (ADLs) to supporting sensory, motor and daily living skills, OT helps our riders thrive both in and out of the saddle. 🤎

Therapy that meets every child where they are. 🤎

Our equine-assisted occupational therapy program supports children ages 2-16 with a variety of needs, using personalized sessions to build strength, coordination, confidence and independence.

By incorporating the horse’s natural movement, therapy becomes both effective and engaging, helping each child grow in confidence and independence. 🐎

Happy Hooves, Healthy Horses 🤎

Brian Fitkin provides natural hoof care services for the horses at Genesis Therapeutic Riding Center. His work focuses on maintaining healthy, balanced hooves using a natural trimming approach that supports each horse's overall soundness and long-term well-being.

Rather than rely on traditional shoeing, Brian trims hooves in a way that mimics the natural wear horses would experience in the wild. This method encourages proper hoof shape, circulation and movement while helping to prevent common hoof issues.

Healthy hooves are essential for our therapy horses, and their comfort and stability directly impact the safety and effectiveness of the work they do with riders.
