Brenda Cleo Cordell, age 79, of Sumiton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, while residing with her daughter in Alabaster, Alabama. Graveside Service will beat Dilworth Cemetery on Wednesday, April 08, 2026 at 11:00 am visitation will be at Bell Sumiton Chapel from 9:00 am till 10:30am. Bro. Hollis Alexander will officiating.
Brenda was born in West Virginia to the late Steadman Harris and Alethia May Harris. She later made her home in Sumiton, Alabama, where she married the love of her life, Harley Cordell, and proudly raised her family. Brenda devoted many years of service to her community as a Child Nutrition Program (CNP) worker at Sumiton Elementary School, where she served for 15 years before retiring. She was known for her caring heart, dedication to children, and the kindness she shared with everyone she met.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Steadman and Alethia May Harris; her beloved husband, Harley Cordell; her sons, Harley “Joey” Cordell, David Shaun Cordell, and infant son Gregory Cordell; her brother, Kenny Harris; her Great Uncle Cleo Allen (Louise); and other cherished family members.
She is survived by her loving child, Tabitha Ann Tennant (Edward); her grandchildren, Candice Michelle Guajardo (Iggy), Stacy Dawn Cox (John), Joseph Dee Moncrief (Mechelle), Steven Cordell, and Shelley Tatum; as well as multiple great-grandchildren and another great-granddaughter on the way.
Brenda is also survived by her siblings, Elaine Bradshaw, JoAnn Hendon Jodoin, Jackie Harris, Janice Smith, Donna Shrewsbury, Darlene Cain, George Harris, Freddie Harris, and Ricky Harris, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who loved her dearly.
Brenda will be remembered for her love of family, her warm spirit, and the many lives she touched throughout her life. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Flowers may be sent to Bell's Funeral Home in Sumiton.

Viola Jane “Janie” Bailey, age 81, of Jasper, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 4, 2026, at 12:22 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 08, 2026 at 2:00pm at Pisgah Baptist Church visitation will be 1:00 pm till time of service burial to follow at New Hope Cemetery. Bro. Ken Mostella will be officiating.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lena Shields; her brothers, Troy and Alvin Shields; her sisters, Dorothy Montgomery and Maelene Cooper; and her husband, Ray Bailey.
She is survived by her son, Will Roden of Jacksonville, Florida; and her daughter, Pam Haddock (David) of Nashville, Tennessee. She was a proud grandmother to six grandsons and was also blessed with six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Medie Rice, along with numerous nieces and nephews, and Kasey Payne, who was like a son to her.
Janie was an active member of Pisgah Baptist Church, where she cherished her church family. She will be greatly missed by her family, church family, and many friends.

Loretta Joyce Cooley, age 88 of Dora, Al, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at her home. Funeral service will be held at Bell Sumiton Chapel on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 2:00pm with the visitation from 1:00pm till time of service. Burial to follow at Good Hope Cemetery. Bro. Sammie Reid and Bro. Jacob Elliott will be officiating the service.

Joyce is preceded in death by her husband; J.L. Cooley, parents; Nathan and Ann Norris of Corner, Winter Rose Cooley of Dunavant, Mckenzie Claire Blalock of Hayden.

She is survived by her children; Lynne Barton {David} of Corner, Peggy Parker {Rodney} of Corner, Leigh Ann Burton {Ronnie} of Corner, Daniel Cooley {Carrie} of Chelsea, and Laura Cooley {Dale} of Dunavant, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, sister; Nell Reaves of Corner and sister in law; Lucille Cooley of Bagley.

Tommy Boling, 87, passed away on March 28, 2026, at his daughter’s home in Sumiton, Alabama. A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 11:00 am, at Pleasant Hill Church of Christ, 2408 Morton Rd., Warrior, AL 35180.
Tommy was born on April 16, 1938, to Tom Boling and Rhoda Brooks Boling. He was married to Gayron Shipp, and together they had one daughter, René, and one grandson, Ethan. After serving in the Army, Tommy and Gayron moved to Hammond, Indiana, where he worked in the steel mills in Gary, Indiana. Gayron passed away at the young age of 35. Tommy remained in Indiana until his retirement at age 67, when he returned to Alabama to be near his daughter and her family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Boling and Rhoda Brooks Boling; his wife, Gayron Shipp Boling; his brothers, Troy Boling, T.D. Boling, and Patrick Boling; his sisters, Louise Boling Thomas (Othel) and Faye Boling Ballard (Vernon); his nephews, William Thomas (Jan) and Ben Thomas; and his niece, June Thomas Adams (Jessie).
He is survived by his daughter, René Boling Morgan (Ramsey); his grandson, Ethan Morgan; his nieces, Jan Thomas Jett (Joe) and Kay Thomas Fassina; and a host of other nieces and nephews.

Zachary David “Zac” Lucas, age 37, was born on August 15, 1988, at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, and passed away on March 26, 2026, returning to his heavenly home.

Zac graduated from Gardendale High School in 2006 and later attended the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Orlando, Florida, where he pursued his passion for working on motorcycles. On August 22, 2009, Zac enlisted in the United States Army, serving with the 13B Field Artillery. He proudly served his country, including a deployment to Afghanistan—a commitment he fulfilled with great dedication and courage.
Zac is survived by his beloved daughter, Reagan McKenzie Lucas; his parents, Sharon Green Segars (John) of Orange Beach, Alabama, and David Barry Lucas of Pelham, Alabama; and his siblings, Cody Jackson Lucas (Quincy), Mark Lucas (Angie), Angie Lucas, Justin Woodruff, Josh Segars (Amanda), and Jake Segars (Lauren). He is also lovingly remembered by his godparents, Mike and Teresa Woodruff, several nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.
Zac also shared special bonds and many cherished memories with Teresa Mills, Sue Allred (lovingly known as Nanny Sue), and Amber Chapple, with whom he shared his daughter.
Known for his warm smile and generous heart, Zac was a loving son, brother, and father who would do anything for anyone. He loved the Lord and professed his faith through baptism. His favorite songs—“Go Rest High on That Mountain” by Vince Gill and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”by Elvis Presley—brought him comfort and were played often. Now, he rests in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Zac was deeply loved by his family. As his mother so tenderly expressed, “Thank You, God, for giving us 37 years—we loved him so much.” Zac shared a close bond with both of his parents, who loved him dearly and supported him throughout his life, with his father, and brother, Cody faithfully caring for him in the years leading up to his passing.
Zac was loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton, Alabama. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Shanghi Memorial Cemetery in Quinton, Alabama. Elders Charles Kitchens and Derrick Kitchens will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Seth Spears, Jason Williams, Shane Green, Austin Lucas, Justin Woodruff, Noah Alexander, and Cody Chapple.
