Florida hurricane update- day after

Everything’s over except we don't have power and water yet, but the neighbor came over and told us he was gonna get on them about it cause they told him that they'd have it up and running. We're just very lucky that it didn't come north at all and we didn't have any tornadoes nearby. I'll do a little video for everybody, but I just woke up since I stayed up till four in the morning watching.

Florida Hurricane Update:

We are in the center at that blue dot. This app is good and it’s called Zoom Earth.

Friends don’t worry, we are boarding up our windows today, sending our outdoor kitty to the neighbors barn to be safe, parked our cars outside of the way of trees, full on gas, no trees really close enough to damage our house, really strong house here, we have a back up generator, we have a Fireplace, lots of food, premade meals, bug out bags in the car, chopped down extra trees that could be a problem in the property, cleaned up all the rubbish and junk that was sitting around that could fly around and into windows. We have the bathtub we’re filling up with water, as well as an additional trashcan, as well as collecting all the rainfall in trash cans and buckets outside, we have multiple refrigerators and freezers. We have chainsaws and people on the property who can help if there’s debris in the road or any structural damage, we have extra places to go if we were to have to leave in the aftermath, and we are on well water and last time they lost power here the well pumps still worked, we are also right next to a lake with fish if things were to get that disastrous where you couldn’t get food or couldn’t get out we have options for food if we had to. While there’s no gas at the gas stations right now, there’s plenty being held by the local government and they are distributing it to the gas stations whenever it’s safe to do so - all in all we are prepared! We have headlamps and batteries and extra water bottles. We might not have the Internet for days. Rain is picking up! Pouring in sheets outside now.

I heard about how I can use my iPhone to connect to satellite in emergencies however we are a heavily treed area, so not sure that I can connect with a satellite right here. I would have to go outside of our property to do so. My phone is waterproof and my bathroom is very secure and safe so will hunker in there if we have to. I’ll put important documents into Ziploc bags and send pictures to my dad in case we were to lose them and need to retrieve them later, hurricane Helene was just a bunch of wind and some down tree branches in our area however that gave me enough of a heads up to be thoughtful and prepared for this one. Pretty sure we’re gonna be fine here, but I am a little concerned about the fact that tornadoes pick up around the edges of the hurricane and I’m a little bit worried about those. As you can see on the map, we are not close to the main path. Also, we are on pretty high ground and it does not tend to flood here. It may flood in parts of the town, but it is not likely to flood on our 20 acre property.
