**Situation Overview:**
My wife and I recently responded to a plea for help from an 89-year-old Vietnam veteran in dire need. Upon visiting, we confirmed the urgency of his situation. His home is at risk of failing inspection by September 16th, which could lead to eviction from his own property.
**Immediate Needs:**
1. **Electrical Work:**
- An electrician is urgently needed. There's a critical issue where 240V has been incorrectly wired to 110V outlets, posing a significant safety risk.
2. **Pest Control:**
- Exterminator services are required to address infestations of fleas, ticks, and bed bugs.
3. **Roofing and Structural Repairs:**
- The porch roof is in a state of collapse, needing immediate attention to prevent accidents.
4. **General Labor:**
- Volunteers for removing old carpets and general cleanup are essential.
5. **HVAC Inspection:**
- An HVAC technician to check the functionality of the gas heater, ensuring it's safe for use.
6. **Animal Care:**
- Assistance with finding homes or shelters for 17 cats. The local pound can only take 5 at a time.
**Scheduled Actions:**
- **Saturday:** I will be on-site with my mini excavator to clear debris. DP Farms is generously providing a roll-off dumpster for waste disposal.
