Do you find yourself dealing with anxiety? Do the storms of life seem to be tossing you to and fro? Are you exhausted and need a way of escape? Try taking a moment to read scripture and journal your prayers.

It may sound cliche, but there’s a peace that comes from connecting with God’s word that we can’t get anywhere else.

Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

I’ve noticed there are a lot of new faces around here so I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself 😊

My name is Kimberly Sayers, but I MUCH prefer you call me Kim. I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist and while I’ve worked with a vast range of people - my specialty is working with couples. I take pride in helping my clients to look within to truly get to know who you are, celebrate their strengths and empathetically empower them to work intentionally on therapeutic goals.

Aside from work, I’m a wife, mother, sister, aunty and friend.

One fun fact about me is that one of my favorite books is “Redeeming Love” by Francine Rivers. It’s such a beautiful love story that mirrors God’s love for His people.

Now, I’d love to get to know YOU a little more. Leave one fun fact about you in the comments below ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Being easily offended immediately places a barrier that makes it way more difficult to operate from a place of love.

Before going into hard conversations, remind yourself that you and your partner are on the same team, listen with an open heart and mind, and choose to let go of offenses so that the two of you can more easily come to a resolution.

✨Jesus + Therapy✨

As a woman of faith AND a licensed marriage and family therapist - I’ve personally seen the advantages of faith, scripture, and the power of the Holy Spirit AND the skill sets that are necessary and that i teach regularly in my career.

Both are important.
Both are necessary.
Both are life changing.

Sometimes the greatest source of inspiration, hope, and empowerment can be found in one of the oldest pieces of literature around - the Bible.

Here are a few scriptures that can help you through difficult seasons -

Psalms 34:18 - “The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. ”

Mathew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Psalm 18:2 - The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield[a] and the horn[b] of my salvation, my stronghold.”

Which of these scriptures will you be meditating on this week?

Anxiety is very real, but thankfully there are a few different things that can make it more manageable.

✨ Practice Visualization - Imagine a peaceful scene. As you visualize, recite a scripture or affirmation that brings comfort. Psalms 23:4 is a perfect example, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

✨ Practice Gratitude - Write 3 things that you are grateful for - no matter how trivial they may seem. For example, “I’m grateful for creamy ice cream on a hot day”. In addition, meditate on scriptures that speak to gratefulness like Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

✨ Practice Deep Breathing - Taking a moment to sit still and breathe deeply can calm your mind and reduce anxiety. If you prefer to be guided, simply search “mindful meditation for anxiety” on Youtube for plenty of options.

Put a 🙋🏾‍♀️ emoji in the comments if you’ve tried any of these tactics to manage anxiety.

“The greatest marriages are built on teamwork. A mutual respect, a healthy dose of admiration, and a never-ending portion of love and grace.”

Being able to identify the problem is the first step to getting closer to a resolve.

Here are four common issues blocking intimacy in your relationship -

1️⃣ Lack of Trust
2️⃣ Low Libido
3️⃣ Lack of Communication
4️⃣ Performance Anxiety

As a reminder - if you fall into any of these categories, it’s nothing to be ashamed about. These are issues that plenty of individuals face - but it’s now up to you to take the necessary steps to improve for the sake of yourself and your relationship.

Do you trust your partner?
Do you openly communicate with one another?
Is there mutual respect for one another’s values and boundaries?
