He asks if this is common. Yes. This is not only common, but has been the standard for decades. If you don't have insurance you are typically going to pay less. If you come prepared to pay your bill at time of service, you will often get better treatment than those with insurance.
This is part of the reason our office is "out of network" with all insurances. If you contract with insurance, you must abide by all the fine print in that contract. In this case, the cash price was $600, and the insurance price was $2,342.14.
