The legendary psychiatrist Aaron Beck passed away peacefully in his sleep last night at the age of 100. He was working all day yesterday, a normal day at work for him. What an exemplary, full life well lived. I will miss his bow tie, fist bumps, and sharp mind which lasted all the way.

Many people don't know this, but his work was much more than cognitive-behavioral. He was very fond of humanistic psychology and recently he was working on a new form of psychotherapy called "Recovery-Oriented" that treats patients as human with strengths: https://beckinstitute.org/blog/what-is-recovery-oriented-cognitive-therapy-ct-r/

Personally, he was a dear mentor and friend. I used to live in the building near door and we'd have tuna sandwiches together on Sundays at his place. Another legend gone. RIP, Tim. ❤️
