Black Maternal Health Week | At HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for every woman who entrusts us with one of life’s most important moments—giving birth. This week, we are raising awareness and reaffirming our commitment to Black women in our community who are considering or growing their families.

Black women face maternal mortality rates 3–4 times higher than white women, a reality that underscores the importance of listening, advocating, and delivering equitable, high quality care.

We are proud of our care teams who work every day to support mothers before, during, and long after delivery—because every mother deserves to feel heard, supported, and safe every step of the way.

Together, we continue working toward healthier outcomes for mothers, families, and our community. 💛

🍦 Hope Floats at HCA Healthcare Summerville Medical Center! 🍦

We were proud to come together for Hope Floats, a special event supporting the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund—created by colleagues, for colleagues.

Through moments like this, we help provide compassionate assistance to team members facing unexpected hardships, including illness, injury, or natural disaster.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, served with heart, and helped make a difference. When our colleagues need support most, we rise together.

This weekend colleagues across HCA Healthcare in the Lowcountry (HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital, HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital, HCA Healthcare Colleton Hospital, HCA Healthcare Live Oak Mental Health and Wellness, and HCA Healthcare South Atlantic Division) showed up to box more 10,000 pounds of food and sort more than 12,000 pounds of sweet potatoes at the Lowcountry Food Bank. The food will be distributed to school-based food pantries.

🐣 A very special Easter arrival! 🐣

Please help us welcome Baby Leon, born on Easter morning at 6:18 a.m., weighing 7 lbs., 4 oz. and measuring 20 inches long. Proud parents Brittany and Dylan are over the moon, and big brother Owen is already settling into his new role!

Leon celebrated his big debut wearing our special “Just Hatched” onesie—gifted to all babies born at HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital on Easter to mark the occasion.

We’re proud to offer a private lactation pod at our Summerville Family YMCA Flowertown Festival booth this weekend—because families should be able to enjoy the festival comfortably and confidently.
New and nursing moms are welcome to stop by for a clean and quiet space to feed or pump while you take in all the sights and fun Flowertown has to offer. 🌸

Look for our booth near the tennis courts and feel free to ask any volunteer for directions—we’re happy to help.

Supporting moms is one small way we’re showing love to our community. 💕

National Multiple Myeloma Day is an opportunity to raise awareness about multiple myeloma, a rare blood cancer that develops in the plasma cells of the bone marrow.

Today, we honor Liz Griswold, our Environmental Services Supervisor, who championed awareness in memory of her father, who passed away in 2024 after a courageous battle with the disease. As Liz shared, “My dad’s strength and spirit inspired me beyond measure. Though he may be gone, he remains my hero. I firmly believe that with increased awareness and research, many lives could be saved — inspiring hope for a brighter future.”

To all the fighters, survivors, and families: your resilience inspires us every day. Together, we will continue to educate, advocate, and spread hope.
