Summerville Mayor's Committee Long name, simple mission: Providing Scholarships to Summerville SC students with Differing Abilities to help them gain meaningful employment and success.

Meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Visiter Center on Main Street, Summerville at 12:00 noon. We have virtual and in-person meetings. We welcome you.

Despite our long name we do one simple thing: Advocate and Provide scholarships (and awards!) to Summerville students (as well as employers and difference makers) to differently abled students and those who support them.

Past award winner Jamari is living his best life at the Clemson Life Program gala. We are so proud of what Jamari is doing at Clemson and proud to be a part of his journey and growth!

We look forward to awarding scholarships and awards in May but we need a little bit more help to make sure that all the money we raise goes to Scholarships.

We are thoroughly excited to be planning our 2026 SMC Scholarship Awards Luncheon for May 6, 2026 where we award thousands of dollars in scholarships to some of the most deserving students in Summerville and recognize businesses, partners, and people who make a difference in the lives of disabled Summerville Students.

We do need some help though! So that all of the money we raise each year continues to go towards scholarships, we are asking our community to step in with a small sponsorship for the luncheon in hopes to be revenue neutral again this year.

The Summerville Mayor’s Committee on the Employment of People with Disabilities is proud to announce that our 2026 Annual Scholarship Applications are now OPEN!

We believe that every individual deserves the opportunity to pursue their academic goals and build a future filled with purpose, independence, and meaningful employment. This scholarship exists to support students with disabilities in continuing their education while preparing for rewarding careers right here in Summerville and beyond!

If you or someone you know is ready to take the next step in their academic journey, we encourage you to apply. There are many options!

He has been a multiple time award winner from the SMC and was our keynote speaker at this year’s Scholarship Awards Luncheon.

Every Scholarship Awards Ceremony is outstanding.

We won’t lie, there is a lot of work that goes on beyond the scenes not only for the presentation, but vetting the candidates, ensuring our donor’s money is spent wisely, getting plaques made. Raising the money.

Today is the reward for it. Each smile. Each high five and handshake. Each hug.

We are so proud of today’s recipients. Congratulations to each and every recipient!
