Winter running is not that bad - really, I’m serious! It was 15 degrees this morning but I layered up well and was toasty warm.

Want to stay active this winter? You should! It’s the best way to prevent weight gain, stabilize blood sugar, lower high blood pressure and lots of other cool things.

If you need a training plan or guidance on what/how to do it, come see us at Summit Sports Lab in Silverthorne, CO, or email me at Cindy@summitsportslab.com and we can get you going!

Almageddon training ride #1 in the books! What is Almageddon? A winter triathlon in Alma, CO, on Jan 17th, 2026, that’s starts at 10653’ and ends at 11700’!

It’s bike, ski, snowshoe up 1800’ and then turning around and doing it in reverse. Yee haw!

I may or may not have talked my friends into doing it with me too…😜🤷‍♀️….and we rode the course today. Too. Much. Fun!!

This is my 4th week doing hill repeats and my knee doesn’t hurt - yippee!! I signed up for a half-marathon that has a long hill at the end so I want to be ready.

I’ve also been able to increase the weight on almost all of the strength training exercises I’m doing. This helps me to be a better runner and strengthen my bones too.

If you live in Summit County, Co, and want personal training, VO2 max testing, or strength coaching, hit us up at Summit Sports Lab in Silverthorne and you’ll be jumping for joy too!

Yep, power is important, ladies!

But it’s not what you’re thinking. It’s not bench pressing 300 lbs. or running a 5 minute mile.

Muscle power is simply your ability to move quickly and confidently - like standing up from a chair without the “oomph” sound, catching yourself if you trip, or carrying groceries in one trip like the superhero you are. 🛒💪

The best part? Building power is easier than you think. Small, intentional moves done a little faster - like sit-to-stands, step-ups, or tossing a light medicine ball - train your body to react, balance, and move with ease.

You don’t need a gym full of heavy weights. You just need more get-up-and-go.

Stay tuned for more ways to increase your POWER and live your best life.

There's so much pseudoscience out there now, which is why I like to follow Dr. Jen Gunter. She's a master myth-buster and all-around cool OB/GYN doc. Since I keep hearing about "bioidentical" hormones, I thought y'all might be interested in reading more about them and how they came to be.

How a catchy word jumped from alternative medicine to Oprah, reshaped menopause care, and left decades of confusion in its wake

Got some bling today! Did the Breckebeiner Winter Triathlon and got 2nd in my age group woo hoo!!

Run, fat bike, XC ski - none of which I really trained for but I still managed to finish!

Note to self: learn to skate ski! I did classical cross-country skiing and got hammered by the skate skiers. This is my new goal for next year!

Did my first fat bike race today! Fifteen miles of gut-busting trails. It was hard but fun!!

Hot Chocolate 15k in the books! Longest I’ve run since knee surgery in January and I felt great!

Took it slow and was able to run almost the whole way.

I do think the strength training I’ve been doing has helped. Thanks, Julie Hansen of Fitbliss!!

Off to Fruita, Co, tomorrow for some mountain biking! Who said your 60’s have to be boring??!

About My Body My Life Nutrition and Fitness

I love to see women enjoying the benefits of good nutrition and regular physical activity. Unfortunately, the diet industry has tainted our view of what our bodies should look like and taught us to ignore our internal cues for hunger and fullness. This often leads to negative thoughts about ourselves and our bodies.

The truth is, healthy bodies come in all shapes and sizes. There is no set weight or BMI that any of us should try to attain. Rather, it’s best to look at overall lifestyle, habits, and beliefs about what is right for us. This is something I can help you with.

If you’re ready to get off the scale, off the couch, and live a full, active, and diet-free life, then let’s talk. I’m ready to help you! Although I specialize in helping women over the age of 50, I have many clients who are younger than 50 so don’t let that stop you from contacting me!
