Trauma is how our bodies and nervous system process things. As children we are vulnerable and most often not able to protect ourselves as the same way as an adult would. If something scares us or traumatizes us and we couldn’t escape it that incompleted response gets stuck in the nervous system. If it happens repeatedly it affects how we react to situtations in adulthood. That incompleted response can cause symptoms and pain in the body. The way out is to release the tension, let the body unwind and unravel, and complete the expression of the nervous system that wasn’t able to be released at the time.
