47 year old who presented with abdominal mass involving right ureter. Her left kidney did not work so I needed to preserve the right kidney. As a result we removed the mass and most of the right ureter. In order to save the kidney I used the appendix as a graft to serve as a conduit for her ureter. The mass was a sarcoma, she is now 3 months cancer free, her kidney works normally, and she’s back to work

51 year old local teacher who saw me last year with a suspicious right renal mass. I performed a partial removal of his right kidney robotically to include the tumor, preserving his kidney, and confirming an early kidney cancer. He saw me 6 months later with a rise in his PSA blood test, and he had a biopsy confirmed prostate cancer. I removed his prostate (also robotically). His PSA is zero, and he has full urinary and sexual function now 3 months after removal.
He is amongst the many patients I have treated who have had both kidney and prostate cancer. Genetic testing confirmed and underlying gene increasing his cancer risks.

89 year old with aggressive high risk ureteral cancer. I performed segmental ureteral resection and reconstruction of her right ureter, creating “neo” ureter from her bladder.
Her margins and lymph nodes were all negative and she is cancer free with both kidneys working full strength.

Charles White, a 3rd year medical student at NY Medical College, did a great job writing this case report with me describing an interesting case that I was involved in. He’s hoping to match in urology and it’s been a joy to help mentor him in the process.

Dr. Bath, a native New Yorker, was a pioneer of modern laser eye surgery for cataracts. Holding 5 patents regarding laser eye surgery, she was the first black female physician to receive such distinction. She also was the first to highlight that Black patients with glaucoma were 8x more likely to go blind. Here's to the many pioneer's in medicine!

Patricia Era Bath (November 4, 1942 – May 30, 2019) was an American ophthalmologist, inventor, humanitarian, and academic. She was an early pioneer of laser cataract surgery. She also became the first woman member of the Jules Stein Eye Institute, first woman to lead a post-graduate training progr...

68 year old gentlemen who presented with prostate cancer following a rise in his PSA. Although it was thought his cancer would be localized, ultimately it had already invaded outside of the prostate into the surrounding tissue. Despite this, he remains cancer free, and experiencing no urinary incontinence.

If your doctor recommends surgery to treat your prostate cancer, you may be a candidate for a very effective, less invasive surgical procedure called a robot...

73 year old gentlemen who presented with a pelvic tumor, a rare pelvic urachal cancer, invading into his colon, bladder and into his belly button causing continuous drainage of urine and f***s from his skin. The tumor had also spread to his liver. Dr. James Nitzkorski from Nuvance Health, and I combined to remove the mass from his belly button, colon, bladder (removing part of the bladder).
