Dr. Bath, a native New Yorker, was a pioneer of modern laser eye surgery for cataracts. Holding 5 patents regarding laser eye surgery, she was the first black female physician to receive such distinction. She also was the first to highlight that Black patients with glaucoma were 8x more likely to go blind. Here's to the many pioneer's in medicine!
