In addition to the variety of classes I am offering this summer, I do also have openings for two more private clients, if you are interested in working 1:1 with a yoga therapist.

A yoga therapist is part wellness coach + part functional movement specialist + part mindfulness and meditation teacher + part accountability partner + part cheerleader all rolled into one.

And if you are interested in how yoga can help with chronic pain, stress, or fatigue, I'd be happy to connect with you to find out if 1:1 sessions would be helpful for you.

Yoga for Real Life

When I share with folks that I am a yogi, it feels like most imagine the trendy outfits + fancy set of props + beautifully curated alter + super bendy poses. But I moved on from that yoga scene many years ago. No, my own yoga practice now looks like this:

An old mat unceremoniously unrolled and flopped into the middle of the floor amidst the clutter in the early morning hours.

Yeah, my couch is frumpy. Because people live in my house, and I didn't take the time to fluff up the cushions for this shot πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

The debris cluttered around my mat? That's because I have a Belgian Malinois pup who can obliterate a toy for "tough chewers" in under ten minutes, and frankly, some mornings I have only the time and energy to A) pick up the mess, OR B) yoga in the midst of the mess, but not both. Today, yoga wins.

I have one rolled up towel and two worn out blocks (with teeth marks in them from afore mentioned pup). And I only did my movement + breathing practice for about 20 minutes before real life interrupted and I needed to get on with the rest of my day.

But, today will be a good day, because even if my yoga isn't anything to fawn over on Social, it helps me start the day feeling better so I can spend the day doing better.

And I hope that you, too, can do a little something for yourself today. May the clutter, lack of time, or desire for fanciness not get in your way today. πŸ’•Margo

If you've got a lot to do... If you have big plans... If you want to do big things...

If you want to succeed at doing big things, you've got to *rest* big, too, because nothing ruins success like burnout!

The good news is: effective, constructive, productive resting doesn't require hours of kicking up your feet and contemplating the universe. Nope! It can be super effective with as little as five or ten minutes a day.

Get these two free guides to help you start doing a little constructive rest and productive mindfulness ⬇️(link in the comments below to help with the algorithm magic πŸ™ƒ)

Had the opportunity to get back into the show ring last weekend after a 20 year hiatus. 🀠 When I left the horse world so many years ago, I never imagined I'd be in the saddle again, but life can be full of surprises...

Not the least of which was how surprisingly different it is to ride in a post-babies body with a laundry list of old injuries. My first time on this horse left me in literal tears - as in ugly crying 😫 - b/c of 8/10 pain in my hips and low back...Until my hubby noted, "um, isn't this your area of expertise: healing pain?"

Why yes, yes it is!

So, all winter long, I've diligently yoga-ed my way back into riding shape! The Yoga Therapist therapized herself πŸ‘

While plenty of smiles could be shared over the blue ribbon I got on this ride and the amazingly fun mother-daughter show day over all (b/c my teen had her own wonderful classes at the show, too), just between us, my favorite part of this is that I rode pain free. No back pain. No arthritis flare. No sciatica.

Just plain, joyful riding.

This is why I practice yoga.

I share this note often in my yoga therapy office.

When you are starting to feel the overwhelm of your to-do list (and then life throws you another curveball, because of course it does!?!), and you feel like throwing up your hands and giving up... Pause for a hot second and make sure you are asking yourself the right question.

We do not rest as a "reward" for working hard to produce results 24/7. We rest in preparation for getting big things accomplished.

Self care is not a reward. It is a prerequisite for success.

Take care of you! πŸ’• Margo

Anybody else start the new year with a twinkle in their eye about big dreams for 2024, just to blink and realize it's March already?!?

So, how 'bout them New Year resolutions?

My own mantra when it comes to resolutions (which, for the record, I tend to set and revise throughout the year rather than just set it and forget it in January) is: β€œ O snail, climb Mount Fuji, but slowly, slowly.” - Kobayashi Issa

And so, slowly, but steadily, I'm getting things on the calendar to offer everyone more opportunities to get therapeutic yoga!

What goals are you working toward right now? (No matter how slowly.)

Sure, sometimes self-care is skipping school or work for a spa day. Sometimes self-care is fuzzy socks, cozy blankets, and going to bed early. And sometimes self-care is swapping the daily latte habit for a gym or yoga studio membership...

And then sometimes self-care is just unapologetically taking a break from Social Media for a whole year - even though everyone swears you'll ruin your business if you aren't constantly posting and promoting!?!

But a year-long break is just the space I needed. Because we cannot help others heal, restore, and renew themselves if we are exhausted ourselves, right?!

I am glad for the break. AND I am glad to be back. So excited for all the wonderful programs, workshops, classes, and retreats I am lining up for you all this year!!

Cheers to a wonderful new year and happy new moon! πŸ’• Margo
