This sums up Chiropractic in such a simple way. As well as why every child should be checked by a pediatric trained chiropractor.

This is pediatric chiropractic…not what you think or have been shown by others. It’s becoming popular for social media influencers to try and score likes, comments, or shares by rage-baiting about chiropractic. They’ll find a random chiropractor with no pediatric training posting inflammatory videos to incite the same type of engagement for their own wannabe social media presence, and use it to denounce all of chiropractic. We’re tired of the bad faith discussions around this profession. Chiropractic is not about cracking a spine, and it’s not about pain relief, either. Chiropractic is about the relationship between the spine and nervous system. If the trauma we experience from the pushing/pulling on our neck during birth, to the accumulation of physical/chemical/emotional stress throughout life causes misalignment/restrictions in the spine it will create adverse tension within the nervous system and interfere with how our body can regulate and coordinate function, making our body less capable of adapting to the changes we experience every day. Does this contribute to pain? Sure. Does it contribute to the most common issues we see in children like breastfeeding, colic, torticollis, reflux, etc? Absolutely. But it also make it harder for us to go about life expressing health at our fullest potential. This week a mom shared with us that since starting care for her 4 year old she noticed she’s sleeping better, less emotionally volatile, and overall happier. Of course she is! Our bodies work better well-adjusted…and it’s gentle, safe, and effective for all ages!

🥦 If solids are offered before your baby is ready, mealtimes can turn messy and frustrating. Babies often push food right back out with their tongue until that natural reflex fades.

Waiting until your baby shows signs of readiness helps them become an active participant at the table. This way, your baby learns to follow their own fullness cues and to explore new tastes at their own pace. 💚

Signs of readiness include being about six months old, able to sit without support, no longer pushing food out with the tongue, and beginning to pick things up between fingers and thumb.

✨ Remember, your milk remains the most important food until your baby’s first birthday. Solids at this age are mainly about fun, learning, and discovery.

Slow down and live your life in the present.

Slow down and live your life in the present.

Humans aren’t meant to live at such a crazy pace and constant stimulation.

At any age, “slow is fast”, but for kiddos, it’s most important! The nervous system will be able to adapt better and that is the root of all health- chemical, physical, emotional & mental! 😊

Yoga for Real Life

When I share with folks that I am a yogi, it feels like most imagine the trendy outfits + fancy set of props + beautifully curated alter + super bendy poses. But I moved on from that yoga scene many years ago. No, my own yoga practice now looks like this:

An old mat unceremoniously unrolled and flopped into the middle of the floor amidst the clutter in the early morning hours.

Yeah, my couch is frumpy. Because people live in my house, and I didn't take the time to fluff up the cushions for this shot 🤷‍♀️

The debris cluttered around my mat? That's because I have a Belgian Malinois pup who can obliterate a toy for "tough chewers" in under ten minutes, and frankly, some mornings I have only the time and energy to A) pick up the mess, OR B) yoga in the midst of the mess, but not both. Today, yoga wins.

I have one rolled up towel and two worn out blocks (with teeth marks in them from afore mentioned pup). And I only did my movement + breathing practice for about 20 minutes before real life interrupted and I needed to get on with the rest of my day.

But, today will be a good day, because even if my yoga isn't anything to fawn over on Social, it helps me start the day feeling better so I can spend the day doing better.

And I hope that you, too, can do a little something for yourself today. May the clutter, lack of time, or desire for fanciness not get in your way today. 💕Margo
