🎊 It’s National Assisted Living Week! 🎊
This year’s theme is “Ageless Adventures” — and trust us, the adventures never stop at The Harriet House! ✨

We kicked things off with Road Trip Bingo! 🚗💨 From quirky roadside stops to favorite vacation destinations, our residents had a blast swapping stories and laughing over memories from trips gone by. Who says you need a suitcase to take a road trip? 😉🗺️

And speaking of celebrations… 🎂🥳 we’re sending the happiest of birthday wishes to our very own Nity! Thank you for all the joy and love you bring to The Harriet House family — we hope your day is as special as you are! 💜✨

We’re lacing up for Saturday for Sumrall’s First Walk To End Alzheimer’s!

We know you may have a few questions about Walk Day - here are some of the ones we hear the most often:

❓Is there a fee to join the Alzheimer’s Walk?
✅ No - This a FREE community event. There is no charge to come and support your community and walk with us as we raise awareness for Alzheimer’s.

❓Will I be able to donate at The Walk?
✅ Yes! Donations will be accepted before, during and after The Walk.

❓What time should I arrive for The Walk?
✅ Registration for The Walk begins at 7am. Opening Ceremony begins at 8am.

❓If I come will I be required to walk?
✅ No - if you are not able to walk, please feel free to visit our vendors booths that will be available on sight and purchase a baked good or coffee from The Loft.

❓Will there be shirts for sale?
✅ Yes! We will have shirts on sale day of The Walk! All proceeds from the shirts will go towards The Alzheimer’s Association- Mississippi Chapter.

🧠 What Is Alzheimer’s Disease?

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, a progressive brain disorder that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills, and the ability to carry out simple tasks.

It begins with mild memory loss and can lead to severe cognitive and behavioral changes. Over time, individuals may struggle with language, reasoning, and even basic daily activities like eating or walking.

🔍 Key Facts:
Alzheimer’s affects over 7 million Americans aged 65+.
It’s caused by abnormal protein buildup in the brain—amyloid plaques and tau tangles—which disrupt communication between brain cells.
It’s currently the 7th leading cause of death in the U.S., but MS has the highest mortality rate in the country per capita.
Understanding Alzheimer’s is the first step toward early detection, compassionate care, and advancing research.
