HELP NEEDED! PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!
**SECOND UPDATE 10/9/24************
We officially have a donor! I am so thankful to everyone who shared this, prayed for us, and signed up to get tested. I am especially thankful to the donor for his generosity and kindness. My family and I appreciate this more than we can possibly express.
Please pray for the surgery on Dec 4th. Pray for my health and the health of the donor both before and after the surgery. Also pray that the Lord would sustain us and our families! Thank you all so very much for sharing and making this possible.
**UPDATE 7/25/24**********************
I want to say thank you to everyone who has prayed for us, shared our post, and signed up to get tested. I cannot express just how much your support means to me and my family, and I wanted to update you all on my situation.
At my most recent appointment, we were told that my kidney function has decreased to 17-18%, and if the function continues to decrease I will have to go on dialysis in order to prevent kidney failure. We want to avoid dialysis and kidney failure by finding a living kidney donor. Your continued support is still needed, and you can still help us in a few ways.
********************************************
Hello, my name is Doug Gant. I have been married to my wife for 29 years, and we have two sons. You may not know this, but I was born with a kidney disorder called Polycystic Kidney Disease which progressively shuts down your kidney function. I am currently in stage four kidney failure, and I need a kidney transplant. The doctors have told us that a living donor is my best opportunity to survive this disease. I am posting here humbly asking you to consider donating a kidney.
I will not pretend that this is a small request, but I am only asking because it is that serious. You really can help me survive this disease and get a healthy life back. I am 55 years old. Getting a kidney from a deceased donor could take 3-5 years or more, and many people with this condition have kidney failure by the time they are 60. I want to be healthy again! I want to enjoy having a normal life. I look forward to the day when I'm not tired or unwell and can live my life to the fullest.
If you would consider being my living donor, please complete the referral form at musclivingdonor.org or contact the MUSC Health Transplant Center in Charleston, SC at 843-792-5097 for more information. The tests would not cost you anything! Most of the tests can be done in any state, and, if you are a match, the travel expenses would also be covered. The donation will be paid for by my insurance.
How can you help?
1. Please pray for me. Pray for my health, my family, and that we find a living donor quickly!
2. Share this post. Someone you know could be a perfect match and willing to donate! You can help save my life by sharing! Help us get the word out as far as we can!
3. Consider becoming a donor. Your generosity and initial discomfort can be exactly what is needed to save my life.
4. Pray for our future donor. Pray that God guides them to see this post, keeps them healthy, and blesses them.
Thank you for reading this. Please share on social media and tell your friends and family! I am so grateful for any way you can help! Please follow this page so that you can stay updated and point your family and friends to my information!
