👉🏽Key OSHA Standards for PPE
1. General Industry Standard: 29 CFR 1910.132
• Under § 1910.132(a): If hazards exist (chemical, physical, inhalation, absorption, mechanical, etc.), protective equipment “including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities … shall be provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition.” 
• § 1910.132(d): Employer must assess the workplace to determine hazards. Then select and have each affected employee use appropriate PPE. 
• § 1910.132(f): Training is required. The employer must provide training so employees know: when PPE is necessary, what kind is necessary, how to put it on/take it off/adjust it, limitations of the PPE, proper care/maintenance/disposal. 
• § 1910.132(h): Employer must provide the PPE at no cost to employees except for certain non-specialty items (e.g., ordinary work boots, non-specialty prescription eyewear) when those items are permitted off the job
