A post I never wanted to write. It’s taken us some time to process & be able to even acknowledge that he’s gone. Last Friday (8/20/21), we made the decision to allow Orinoco to cross The Bridge at just over 14.5 years old. He told us he was tired & it was time. No dog will ever live up to him. He was accomplished at damn near everything we pointed him at. He was a dual-purpose apprehension & explosive ordinance police K9; a singled-out AKC Best of Breed winning show dog; a UKC & International Champion; WAC, ZTP & Schutzhund titled and THE BEST Companion & Partner we could have ever expected from my very first homebred litter. He is the standard to which every subsequent dog was/is measured. He was the one & only “Deadliest Catch.” He defied the naysayers. He proved that a true working dog really can do it all. He (and his dam, Styx) coverted non-Dobe people to Dobermann lovers & even helped crush breed stereotypes. He will forever be missed & we are eternally grateful that he graced our lives. 💔 🌈 🐾

🎂🎈🎁🖤Happy 14th Birthday to the last living baby from the Styx x Kobe litter. It’s hard to believe that that Orinoco is 14 today. It feels like he was just yesterday that he was a palmful. Then he grew up to be a handful! One the VERY FIRST Dobermanns to be a certified EOD LE K9 (explosive ordinance detection law enforcement); he was a show dog; schutzhund competitor & companion. He’s a little slower nowadays but he’s still the FIRST First Stryk Dobermann & the ONLY First Stryk’s Deadliest Catch! 🎂🎈🎁🖤

Orinoco had is annual vet visit today. Vet couldn’t believe he was going to be 14 next week! He’s a tad weak in the rear but the vet couldn’t detect any huge heart murmurs so his meds are doing their job. He had a couple skin tags removed & then his Daddy took him to Wendy’s for a cheeseburger on the way home. 🖤
