A father and daughter in Abilene, Texas, were both diagnosed with colon cancer just two months apart, an unusual occurrence, which underscores the rising trend of colon cancer diagnoses in younger patients in the region. Shayla, 19 years old, was initially diagnosed with stage 3B colon cancer, later reclassified as stage 4, after experiencing severe pain. Following her diagnosis, her doctors recommended the entire family get checked, leading to her father, David, also being diagnosed with colon cancer.
