Thomas Victor Hearne
July 5, 1940 – February 20, 2026
Thomas Victor Hearne began his "journey to the light" on February 20, 2026, in Sun City, AZ. Born in Shreveport, LA, to Fred and Elizabeth Hearne, Tom’s early life took him from the Yaqui Reservation in Tucson to the athletic fields of Washington High School in Phoenix (Class of 1958). A talented athlete and speaker, he earned a degree in Business Administration from ASU in 1963, where he was beloved for his kindness while working in campus food services.
Tom’s professional life was defined by his leadership at Saga Administrative Corp and more than 30 years as a self-employed truck driver. Beyond work, he was a seeker of truth—an avid learner who studied theology and theosophy, finding inspiration in God and maintaining a deep respect for all faiths.
A man of high moral character and "no resentment," Tom was known for his generosity, his sharp sense of style and humor, and his passion for gardening and cooking. He was a survivor who successfully won a battle against aggressive melanoma, allowing him a peaceful retirement filled with movies, games, and the comfort of his home.
Tom was a remarkably loyal friend; he maintained deep, meaningful friendships for more than 50 years, a testament to his generous spirit and ability to connect with others. Tom’s greatest joy was found in the simple, sensory pleasures of life. He had an immense passion for good food and found true delight in every meal. Whether he was growing fresh vegetables in his garden, cooking at home, or discovering a new dish, he celebrated the art of living with a grateful heart.
Tom was preceded in death by his sons, Steven and Scott Hearne. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria; his children, Cindy (William), Michael (Leilani) Hearne, Diana, and Carlos (Mayra); and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Tom lived by the mantras: "Never stop dreaming" and “Always keep going to make your dreams come true”. He was a well-dressed, easygoing, and deeply faithful man—quite simply, a good man who knew how to savor life and cherish those around him.
